9/26/2013 The Dividing Line The Last Show Before South Africa
Rich and I both had lots of pressing issues to deal with, so we had to move the DL to 4pm EDT, and it was a "regular" sized program (even I was surprised at how quick one hour passed). Anyway, discussed some of the current topics of the day, including the comments of the head of Barilla Pasta, the media's fawning over a meeting of 50 people to try to promote homosexuality in biblical churches, and the imprisonment of Christians in Iran. Then we went back to responding to Bashir Varnia and Yusuf Ismail on this, the last Dividing Line until October 15th! ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StuxkXiDxNE
Enough abbreviations there? Briefly touched on the Philips, Craig & Dean controversy regarding performing for the SBC this summer (offering a simple question for PC&D to answer); then talked about Benny Hinn and Michael Brown, and finished up playing and responding to comments by Shawn McCraney on Calvinism. Shawn wrote today and said he'd like to call in so we can talk about this, for which I am very grateful! I look forward to that interaction.

In our third program from up here in Moscow, Idaho, we did a deep dive into Philippians 2, the great "Carmen Christi," considering its meaning and application in a number of contexts. That was the majority of the program, but when I responded to the accusation of "kenotic heresy" on my part by Pastor Josh Sommer, demonstrating that the allegation is utterly without merit.

Talked a bit about the upcoming trip, new new rig and studio, and the fact that HOPEFULLY next Tuesday we will do a live DL from the rig in the new studio AND at the same time auction off a gorgeous Jeffrey Rice LSB rebind (I am told on Twitter it is a "LSB 2 Column in Steel Grey Badalassi Carlo" whatever all that means). Then we talked about enough cultural insanity to make it necessary to not post this to YouTube, and finally we moved to Story Time with Grampa Jimmy, this time reading the unpublished, unfinished preface to a never-written commentary on Chrysostom's homilies by John Calvin. Important historical insights to be gained! Pray for safe travel and that we will be able to do the DL from the new studio while on the road (somewhere in Texas) next week!
OK, not really, but here's what happened. I started off with some brief comments on the incredible section in 2 Corinthians 4:3-6, and then I started to respond to a Twitter conversation I had had this morning with a Muslim. I invited him to watch on YouTube, and he did. He started to respond, and so we had a conversation going back and forth, he on Twitter, I responding as he posted comments. It was quite interesting, and took up most of the rest of the hour. I did manage to sneak in a few comments on Steven Anderson's blog post/article about archaic words in the KJV right toward the end of the program.

The initial verdict came down right at the start of the program but we pressed on anyway! We looked at the Rob Hoogland situation in Canada and the essence of transgender insanity. We looked at the “horrible damage” Samuel Sey did at Ambrose by…speaking words (the horror!). Discovered that some folks think there is no “threat of CRT” in the SBC or anywhere else. Looked briefly at Trent Horn on the subject of “co-evangelization,” and also looked at Bart Ehrman’s ignorance of the NT’s witness to Jesus as Yahweh. Finished up responding to our good brother Kris Williams on the issue of the term “theonomy” in light of a comment he made on Twitter a few days ago. A jumbo edition today! Only an hour today, but the first half was focused on the deity of Christ (interrupted by failing light strips in the studio!) and the second was focused upon a GOP proposal to identify “peaceful teaching Muslims” from those preaching violence. Basically, I really don’t want the government determining good and bad theology for anyone, because while the GOP may be in charge today, it will not be in charge forever, and eventually the secular totalitarians will use such laws to come after all believing, consistent Christians.

We started off with the Senate's consideration of the evil "Respect for Marriage Act," which, of course, is the Disrespect for Marriage Act, and how the LDS leadership in Salt Lake City capitulated on basic Christian belief on the matter by favoring the passage of the bill. Then we took great calls on what it is to be Reformed, the need to be part of the local church, Matthew 24:36 and what the "hour" is referring to, a great call from Mwansa in Lusaka, Zambia on dealing with the "cage stage," and finally Matthew asking about the salvation of "all of Israel." I directed Matthew to this sermon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipIHJ66vO2M I preached at Apologia Church recently, and this sermon https://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=103111345182 delivered by Dr. Sam Waldron. Enjoy!
