Previously, the party explored Magwall Road and Raguel Bridge in the upper area of the Ragmos Desolation. In the process, they defeated the Naberius Invictus and the Surrogate Fitzpatrick. They also rescued a City survivor, Clarity. They discovered the Canyon of No Return at the gateway to the Black Mountains. They will now begin exploring this glacial new area.

The party takes the Ether Slide west to the Black Mountains.

A scene takes place as the party arrives.
Afterwards, they discover the Belgazas' Drifts location. New quests are available.
To the north, they find an Ether Channel under a fallen arch. They find a Black Shard by a fallen pillar to the northeast.
To the west, they defeat the Hallowcanter Hazerune, a Level 42 unique Aries. Its drops include Battle Manual, vol. 20; Tactics Manual, vol. 14; and a Nopon Medal.
At the northeastern ledge, they approach Hyzen and Saomi for a scene. This starts the standard quest "Snow Man's Treasure". The next destination is the Town of Banerro Ruins farther up the mountain.
The party goes to the steep western slope. In an Intervention, they fight a Dark Vollgull to save a City Survivor. Poor Lucius.
They continue north to Ignia Hill. At the base of an escarpment along the western ledge, they find a Black Crystal.
They find an Affinity Scene farther north along the western ledge.
Farther north, they find a Black Crystal on a precarious column.
In Belgazas' Drifts to the east, the party finds a Gem Unlock Kit on a ledge over the Hallowcanter Hazerune grave. Rex uses it to unlock his third Gem slot.
The party finds the Dragongate landmark in the north of the Drifts. Continuing on, they enter the Town of Banerro Ruins.

The party deals with a Fog Rift just inside town. The rewards include a Black Shard.
They drop off to the south.

The party carefully drops south to find a Container on a ledge. Contents include a Nopon Medal.
They skip travel to the Dragongate landmark. To the northeast, they carefully drop to a ledge to the east to find another Container. Contents include a Nopon Medal and a Nopon Strap.
From the Dragongate, the party reenters the town.
45:01 - Town of Banerro Ruins
Near the town entrance, the party follows a ledge east. They construct an Ether Lift.
Tirkins currently live in the ruins.
The party takes the Ether Lift up to a ledge with a Relic. Contents include an Accessory Unlock Kit and Lessons in Unity, vol. 9.
After taking out Tirkins, the party repairs an Elevator at the Expedition Elevator location. They ride it up.
To the west, they construct an Ether Slide. They ride it southwest to the Ancient Rooftop Camp rest spot. They also rescue a City Survivor, Cathy. She goes to Colony 9.
East of the elevator, the party deals with an Incursion against 13 enemies: Tirkins with a banner. Afterwards, they repair a Ladder and take it up to a rampart.
Up a wall to the south, they view an Affinity Scene.
On a lower path to the northeast, the party approaches the target for a scene for "Snow Man's Treasure". After the scene, they construct an Ether Lift and descend.
Below, they approach the door with a glowing sigil for a scene. Afterwards, Glimmer uses the Accessory Unlock Kit to unlock her final Accessory slot.
The party continues in and discovers the La Luz Temple secret area. They approach the altar. After a scene, they defeat four Treasure Antols.
A scene takes place after the battle. "Snow Man's Treasure" complete! The party earns some accessories.
The party backtracks up. From the ladder, they go north up the wall. They go northeast. Just after a dropoff, they find a Container. Contents include a Gem Unlock Kit and a Nopon Medal. Nikol unlocks his final Gem slot with the Kit.
In the Befalgar Ruins to the northeast, the party seals a Fog Rift. The rewards include a Black Crystal.
They find a Relic afterwards. Contents include a Gem Unlock Kit and Lessons in Unity, vol. 13. Glimmer unlocks her final Gem slot with the Kit.
A slope to the west leads to an Ether Channel.
The party skip travels to the Ancient Rooftop Camp and saves. They will continue scaling the Black Mountains next time.

After using the new bridge, they climbed the Northern Ridge of Mt. Nibel and reached the Mako Distribution Plant. They will now finish exploring the Mako Distribution Plant and then go to the Nibel Mako Reactor.

This is video #083 in my playthrough of Final Fantasy IV for the PC. This is episode 1 of the third playthrough. I am playing on Hard mode.

Previously, the party defeated Zeromus and completed the second playthrough of this game. Now, it is time to start the third playthrough so I can finish up the Steam achievements. This playthrough will not be as thorough as the previous two in terms of talking to NPCs.
To start the third playthrough, I load the game from my completion save of the second playthrough. The introductory scenes play. Cecil acquires the Bomb, er, Carnelian Signet to take to Mist.
Baron Castle (time 6:42):
After the scenes, we gain control of Cecil the Dark Knight on floor 2F in Baron Castle. As before, he starts at Level 10. However, he retains access to all his augments from the prior playthroughs, including the powered-up ???'s Love. He sets that up right away, along with Level Lust and Gil Farmer.
Cecil starts with a full set of Dark equipment. Sadly, as a Dark Knight, he cannot equip the Onion Sword, Adamant Armor, or Onion gear. Fortunately, with ???'s Love, he won't need it right away. Besides, Kain will be able to equip the sword.
A scene takes place when Cecil talks to Kain on floor 2F.
On floor 1F, Cecil opens the treasure room and snags some goodies: 480 gil, an Ether, and a Tent.
A scene with Rosa takes place in the western stairwell. As Cecil approaches the entrance to the West Tower, a scene with Cid takes place.
In Cecil's Bedchamber atop the West Tower, Cecil chooses to get some rest. A scene with Rosa takes place that evening. In the morning, Cecil joins forces with Kain and leaves the castle. Fantastic introduction.
Overworld (time 17:55):
We gain control of Cecil and Kain outside of Baron Castle. Kain the Dragoon joins at Level 10. He starts with a Spear and a set of Iron gear. Kain equips the Onion Sword, Adamant Armor, and Onion gear carried over from the previous playthrough. He also sets up his abilities for tanking.
The party enters the town of Baron.
Baron (time 18:59):
The party gathers treasure in town. In a bush at the southeast corner of the inn, they find a Potion. In a container south of the counter in the inn, they find another Potion. Upstairs in the inn, they open the treasure room and acquire Gnomish Bread, a Tent, and Eye Drops.
In the sundries shop, they stock up on Potions.
A pot at the southwest corner of the exterior of Rosa's house contains a Potion. The nearby bush also contains a Potion.
Behind a bush in the east of town, the party finds Eye Drops.
At the southeast end of the water channel, the party finds a Tent and a Bronze Hourglass.

Previously, I continued playing Rutiana the Wedi's adventure. Continuing the Julette storyline, she served as Investigator Kinna's bodyguard and helped him repair the massive tuning fork in the Ruins of Sleeping Wisdom on King Radis Island. Back in Julette, she earned her pay for helping Kinna: 1,000 gold. However, an uproar swept the town when it was learned that Somya was taking care of the baby cat monster, and Hussar walked into this situation. Rutiana and Hussar teamed up to take the Kitten to Cat Island with Somya. They took the canoe from Muse Coast to Cat Island and explored the island. Now, they will head to the Giant Cats' Nest on Cat Island to deal with the Julette storyline boss.
Julette (time 0:24):
Rutiana resumes in the church in the Town of Julette.
When she is ready to go, she Zooms to the Cat Island - Giant Cats' Nest destination.
Cat Island (time 2:54):
At F-8 in the southeast, the party takes the door to the Giant Cats' Nest. Within, Rutiana and her group encounter Cat Mamma and Cat Riberio. Unfortunately, the discovery of a traitor interrupts a happy reunion.
After the scene, it is boss time against Cat Riberio. Riberio is a pretty dangerous boss. He has a multiple-strike attack that deals high damage to a single character, especially when he is enraged. He also has an attack that can strike all party members and inflict knockdown.
Fortunately, Somya helps from the sidelines by using Medicinal Herbs on injured party members. Still, it helps to have a few Strong Medicines or other good means of healing. Hussar is helpful with his greatsword attacks.
At the end of the battle, Cat Riberio provides 700 experience points and 1,500 gold.
Another scene takes place in the Giant Cats' Nest after the battle. Cat Mamma is reunited with her adorable baby, Junior. The next objective is to return to Mayor Boren in Julette.
Rutiana regains control in the Giant Cats' Nest after the scene. She Zooms back to the Town of Julette.
Julette (time 21:03):
Rutiana enters the mayor's house at F-3/G-3. This triggers a scene with Mayor Boren. Rutiana earns the Blue Key Emblem (青のキーエンブレム) and Intercontinental Rail Pass (大陸間鉄道パス) key items. In addition, Hussar joins the party! Somya heads home. The next objective is to revisit Somya at her house.
The player earns the accolade "Benefactor of Cat Island" for saving Julette (and Cat Island) and earning the Blue Key Emblem.
Hussar joins the party at Level 17. He can equip swords, greatswords, and axes. He comes with a Beginner's Greatsword, a Shuren Headband, a Shuren Gi Top, and a Shuren Gi Bottom. It appears he can equip two one-handed swords at once. He comes with the Greatswords ability Helichopter, which hits all enemies in a group. Under his personal skill, Cool, he comes with the ability Clap Trap, which boosts the user's tension while striking an enemy.
The party enters Somya's house at E-2/E-3. This triggers a scene with Hussar and Somya. This concludes the main Julette storyline. The next objective is to take the train to a new destination.
The party visits the inn at F-4 and gets some rest. At the weapon shop at E-7, they get Hussar an Iron Axe (てつのオノ) for 550 gold. At the armour shop, they get Hussar an Iron Breastplate (てつのむねあて) for 500 gold, a set of Iron Leggings (てつのこしだれ) for 450 gold, and an Iron Headband (てつのはちがね) for 330 gold.
The party enters the pub at E-5. Within, they talk to Introducer Lerai. Lerai issues Quest 002: "Welcome to the Adventurer's Tavern!", which unlocks the Adventurer's Tavern service. This can be accepted from an Introducer at the pub in any hub city. Lerai asks for a Birdsong Nectar, which can be bought from Nadi at the Lamp Crafting Guild in Rakkaran. It may also be obtained from a sparkly spot or a monster drop somewhere.
The party enters the train station at A-5. Within, they talk to Legol at E-6. They board the train for Rakkaran, the Island of Entertainment.

Previously, Heorot carried out Windurst Mission 4-1: "Magicite". Now, he will work on Windurst's Rank 5 missions.
Heorot resumes in his Mog House in Windurst. In his delivery box, he receives payment for a chunk of Adaman Ore that sold on the auction house. Then, he heads out.

Heorot teleports to Windurst Walls.
Windurst Walls (time 1:25):
Heorot enters Heavens Tower at H-7/H-6.
Heavens Tower (time 2:28):
On the tower's top floor, Heorot examines the Vestal Chamber door. A cutscene takes place with the Star Sibyl, Semih Lafihna, and Rukususu. They assign him Windurst Mission 5-1: "The Final Seal". Heorot must go north to Fei'Yin to check on the seal that was placed there. He receives the New Fei'Yin Seal temporary key item.
After the scene, he examines the Transporter to return to the first floor and then exits the tower.
Windurst Walls (time 9:48):
Heorot teleports to Home Point #1 in Fei'Yin, Fauregandi.
Fei'Yin (time 10:34):
When Heorot arrives, a cutscene takes place with Zeid and Lion.
Afterwards, he gains control at Home Point #1 at K-8 on the main floor. He enters the Qu'Bia Arena.
Qu'Bia Arena (time 14:02):
Heorot examines the Burning Circle and chooses the battlefield for "The Rank 5 Mission". As in Mission 5-1 for the other countries, his main opponent is Archlich Taber'quoan.
After the battle, a scene with Zeid takes place.
When the scene is over, Heorot receives the Burnt Seal temporary key item. He heads back out to Fei'Yin.

Heorot arrives at K-9 in the southeast of Fei'Yin. At K-8, he uses Home Point #1 to teleport to Windurst Walls.

At H-7/H-6, Heorot enters Heavens Tower.

On the top floor, Heorot examines the Vestal Chambers door for a scene. Windurst Mission 5-1 complete!
After the scene, Heorot uses the Teleporter to go the first floor and then leaves the tower.

After donating some crystals to Milma-Hapilma, W.W., at B-4, Heorot talks to Jenshura-Rashura at B-5. He agrees to undertake Windurst Mission 5-2: "The Shadow Awaits". He receives another Star Crested Summons temporary key item. He will be getting his orders from the Star Sibyl again.

Previously, Heorot continued the Rhapsodies of Vana'diel and Seekers of Adoulin storylines. He carried out the Rhapsodies of Vana'diel Chapter 3 missions "Tears of the Generals" and "What He Left Behind" in Adoulin and the Rala Waterways. He is now on the Rhapsodies of Vana'diel mission "Gone but Not Forgotten", but he must continue with the Seekers of Adoulin mission line before he can carry this out. Heorot also carried out Seekers of Adoulin Mission 2-2-2: "In the Presence of Royalty" in the Yorcia Weald. Afterwards, he passed through the Woh Gates and found the Kamihr Drifts. He is now on Seekers of Adoulin Mission 2-3: "The Twin World Trees". He will proceed with this mission and a couple more in the Adoulin area.
Heorot resumes in his Mog House in Bastok. He heads outside.

Heorot approaches Oscairn at G-7, who is just north of the Peacekeepers' Coalition. This triggers a cutscene for Seekers of Adoulin Mission 2-3: "The Twin World Trees". To get this event, the player must wait at least until the next Vana'diel day after completing Seekers of Adoulin Mission 2-2-2: "In the Presence of Royalty".
Seekers of Adoulin Mission 2-4: "Honor and Audacity" begins. A fight has broken out, and it is being resolved through combat at the Watergarden Coliseum in the Rala Waterways. Heorot must go watch.
At F-6/F-7, Heorot enters the Rala Waterways.

As Heorot enters the waterways, a scene with Arciela takes place. She will accompany him to the coliseum so that he can get in.
Seekers of Adoulin Mission 2-4-1: "The Watergarden Coliseum" begins. Heorot must proceed to the coliseum entrance.
Heorot gains control at L-5. Reaching the coliseum from here is pretty simple. He must turn south and go through the Sluice Gate at L-5. Then, he turns east. Past the crossroads at M-5, he turns south at the next intersection.
At M-6, Heorot talks to the NPC Yeggha Dolashi. This triggers a sequence of cutscenes. The main event takes place in the Watergarden Coliseum.
Seekers of Adoulin Mission 2-5: "Friction and Fissures" begins. Heorot will have to talk to Levil at the Pioneers' Coalition, but he will have to wait until the next Vana'diel day first.
Heorot regains control at M-6. He backtracks and exits to Eastern Adoulin at L-5.

Now, Heorot will farm items for the next support ability quest that he will carry out, "Breaking the Ice" in Kamihr Drifts. He will need 3 Rabbit Hides and 1 Raaz Tusk.

Previously, the party continued job grinding in the southwestern corner of the ocean to earn the achievement for mastering all jobs. They will now wrap it up.
Merged World - World Map:
The party resumes in the southwestern ocean. They continue grinding.
Lenna and Krile reach Dancer Level 3 and master "Equip Ribbons". They have now mastered the Dancer job, as well as every job in the game. With this accomplished, they have also mastered the Freelancer job.
The player earns the achievement "Management Laborer" for mastering all jobs. This only has to be done on one character, apparently. The player earns the achievement "Master of V" for earning all achievements in Final Fantasy V.
Lenna changes her job to Mime. She equips "!White Magic Lv. 6", "!Summon Lv. 5", and !Attack. Krile changes her job to Mime. She equips "!Time Magic Lv. 6", "!Black Magic Lv. 6", and !Mix. Bartz equips "!Spellblade Lv. 6" in place of "!White Magic Lv. 6".
Bartz and Faris reach Mime Level 1 and master !Mimic. They have now mastered the Mime job, as well as every job in the game. With this accomplished, they have also mastered the Freelancer job.
Bartz changes his job to Freelancer and equips !Mug and "!Spellblade Lv. 6". Faris changes her job to Freelancer and equips !Mug and "!Blue Magic". Lenna equips !Mix in the place of !Attack.
The party flies back to the Castle of Bal and enters the castle.

Previously, Heorot carried out the quests "The Missing Piece" and "Missionary Man" and earned the Scrolls of Teleport-Altep and Teleport-Yhoat. Now, he will work on the quest for the Scroll of Teleport-Vahzl. When that is done, he will level up Black Mage some more.
Heorot resumes in his Mog House in Bastok. He heads outside.
Bastok Mines (time 0:51):
Heorot teleports to Northern San d'Oria.
Northern San d'Oria (time 1:11):
Upon arrival, he resets his current home point.
On the second floor of the Cathedral, Heorot talks to Eperdur at M-7. Eperdur issues the quest "Sorcery of the North". His earlier quest "Healing the Land" is a prerequisite. Heorot must go to the cursed northlands and locate the Fei'Yin Magic Tome. It is where its name suggests.
Heorot teleports to Home Point #1 in Fei'Yin, Fauregandi.
Fei'Yin (time 4:36):
Heorot arrives at K-8 in Fei'Yin. The Fei'Yin Magic Tome is in a treasure chest (as opposed to a coffer), so Heorot's first task is to acquire a Fei'Yin Chest Key.
The monsters that drop the Fey'Yin Chest Key are Shadows, Ore Golems, and Underworld Bats. So, Heorot targets these fiends. Actually, he mistakenly targets Undead Bats rather than Underworld Bats.
One Shadow drops an Ingot of Royal Treasury Gold. This is for the San d'Oria quest "Tea with a Tonberry?". It also requires Attohwa Ginseng, which drops from from Gallnippers, Ogreflies, and Monarch Ogreflies in Attohwa Chasm.
Eventually, Heorot gets a Fei'Yin Chest Key from a Shadow. It doesn't even take half an hour this time. Afterwards, Heorot must locate a treasure chest that randomly spawns in Fei'Yin.
Heorot finds a Treasure Chest at J-6. When he trades the Fei'Yin Chest Key to it, he acquires the Fei'Yin Magic Tome temporary key item. This also causes Sneak to wear off, so be careful if any aggressive high-level monsters are nearby.
Heorot uses Home Point #1 at K-8 to teleport to Northern San d'Oria.
Northern San d'Oria (time 33:29):
In the Cathedral, Heorot reports to Eperdur at M-7 on the second floor. "Sorcery of the North" complete! Heorot earns the Scroll of Teleport-Vahzl.
He uses his new scroll right away to learn the White Magic spell Teleport-Vahzl. These teleport spells still have their uses, especially if you're deep in a dangerous location far from a Home Point or a Survival Tome.

Previously, I made my character, a male Hume named Heorot in Bastok. After registering all the Home Points in Bastok, he headed to South Gustaberg and began grinding on the Huge Hornets with Page 1 of individual training. He has reached Red Mage Level 5. Now, he will work on a couple of useful quests and a mission in Bastok.
Bastok Mines (time 0:43):
After resuming, Heorot heads back into Bastok Mines. When you enter a zone adjacent to a Mog House after reaching Level 3 or so, a scene will take place. This kicks off the content for the "Rhapsodies of Vana'diel" add-on. It concludes the missions "Chapter One: Creation and Rebirth" and "Rhapsodies of Vana'diel" and starts the mission "Resonance". Next stop: Selbina or Mhaura. Since Heorot is from Bastok, it will most likely be Selbina.
Now that Heorot has reached Level 5, he can do a Trust quest, which will give him access to an AI-controlled ally. To get started, he heads to a Home Point and teleports to Port Bastok.
Port Bastok (time 2:57):
At K-7 in Port Bastok, Heorot talks to a Galka named Clarion Star at the base of the stairway. Clarion Star is seeking adventurers to participate in the Trust Initiative. Do I want to try this out? Absolutely! When Heorot agrees, Clarion Star issues the quest "Trust: Bastok". Heorot must talk to Naji in the Metalworks. Clarion Star gives Heorot a temporary key item, a Blue Institute Card.
By the way, you do not need to be in Bastok to do this. Similar quests can be started in the other starting cities: San d'Oria and Windurst.
So, Heorot teleports to the Metalworks.
Metalworks (time 7:51):
At J-8, Heorot talks to Naji, a Mythril Musketeer stationed outside the President's Office. An amusing scene takes place. Heorot learns the Trust spell "Naji". The next objective is to try the spell outside town and report to Naji afterwards.
Heorot sets up a macro to call forth Naji's alter ego and another macro to release Trust alter egos. Then, he teleports to the Bastok Mines.
Bastok Mines (time 13:19):
From Bastok Mines, Heorot heads out to South Gustaberg.
South Gustaberg (time 14:06):
Outside town, Heorot casts Naji, and Naji's alter ego appears. Trust alter egos will only attack enemies when you engage auto-attack and land a blow. They will not automatically aid you if you get aggroed--nor will they defend themselves if they get aggroed. Also, Trust alter egos can only be called outside of battle. You need to call them again after changing zones. In a party, only the party leader can cast Trust spells.

Previously, Heorot did some training as Dragoon in Rolanberry Fields and reached Level 45. Now, he will continue training in Yhoator Jungle.

Heorot arrives at the Outpost at I-8. He rides to the Field Manual at F-7. He signs up for the Page 1 individual training to defeat 3 White Lizards and 6 members of the Goblin family per training regime. Then, he sets out to hunt these enemies.
Eventually, Heorot reaches Level 45 as Dragoon.
When he has finished for now, he returns to the Outpost at I-8 and uses the Survival Guide to teleport to Bastok Mines.
Bastok Mines (time 54:59):
Heorot visits Neigepance at the Chocobo Stables to sell some loot. At the auction house, he puts two stacks of Fire Crystals and a stack of Lightning Crystals up for sale.
Afterwards, Heorot heads to the residential area.
Mog House (time 58:19):
Heorot signs off. Next time, he will finish getting Dragoon to Level 50 and will start leveling another job.
