OSIRIS-REx Touching Asteroid Bennu

NASA’s Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, Security, Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-REx) spacecraft unfurled its robotic arm Oct. 20, 2020, and in a first for the agency, briefly touched an asteroid to collect dust and pebbles from the surface for delivery to Earth in 2023.
This well-preserved, ancient asteroid, known as Bennu, is currently more than 200 million miles (321 million kilometers) from Earth. Bennu offers scientists a window into the early solar system as it was first taking shape billions of years ago and flinging ingredients that could have helped seed life on Earth.

This low-resolution view of the floor of Mars’ Jezero Crater and a portion of two wheels of NASA’s Perseverance Mars rover was captured by the color imager aboard the agency’s Ingenuity Mars helicopter. The image was taken on April 3, 2021, while the solar-powered rotorcraft was still beneath the rover after being deployed. A few higher-resolution images are expected to be acquired by this imager during each of Ingenuity’s test flights.
NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory built and manages operations of Perseverance and Ingenuity for the agency. Caltech in Pasadena, California, manages JPL for NASA. The Mars helicopter technology demonstration activity is supported by NASA's Science Mission Directorate, the NASA Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate, and the NASA Space Technology Mission Directorate.

In the Atacama desert of northern Chile, the European Southern Observatory (ESO) is building a ground-based telescope called Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) which is not grabbing as much attention as the James Webb Space Telescope. On completion, ELT will be the world’s largest optical/near-infrared telescope. The ELT project was approved in 2012 and permission for the construction at Atacama desert was given at the end of 2014. It is expected to take 11 years (by the end of 2025) for the construction of this telescope. The Extremely Large Telescope will allow a deeper exploration of the cosmos and provide sharper views of the cosmic objects than ever before.
