At E3 this year, Nintendo finally broke their silence regarding the new Fire Emblem game for Switch. The game is called Fire Emblem: Three Houses. This tactical RPG will feature formations of troops supporting individual units on the battlefield, and features three protagonists. The game is expected to launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch in Spring of 2019.
At E3, crowd favorite CD Project Red announced that their upcoming project, Cyberpunk 2077 will in fact be a first-person RPG. The game is based on the pen and paper role playing game Cyberpunk 2020, which also inspired games like Shadowrun. The game will take place in a retro-futuristic cyberpunk setting in the year 2077. Cyberpunk 2077 is schedule for release in June of 2019 for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
Octopath Traveler is still slated for July 13th, and with the release less than one month away Square Enix has released an updated demo of the game. The new demo allows players access to each of the 8 protagonists, and one can play for up to three hours before being returned to the title screen. At that point you can begin another save file for another 3 hours. When the full game releases, you will be allowed to carry over your existing save-data to the full release of the game. Octopath traveller is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, developed by Square Enix and Acquire.
The Steam release of Chrono Trigger received an update on June 6th. The User Interface was updated to look much better on computer screens. This comes on the heels of massive fan outcry after the game’s release on Steam, which was criticized for its poor optimization for computer displays and apparent lack of effort. More updates are planned, with another update expected later this month.
Over the course of E3 several games were revealed, and others still that we alerady knew about were announced to be coming to the United States. Here are some of the ones that caught my eye.

Grandia HD Collection Lives!
GungHo games broke their deafening silence today regarding the status of the Grandia HD Collection
GungHo says that it is "coming soon."
Additionally, GungHo has announced that Grandia HD Remaster will be coming to PC, and Grandia II Anniversary Edition will be renamed to fit the naming scheme. On PC the games will be sold separately.
More information regarding Grandia HD Collection will be revealed at E3 this year.

So of course when it comes to indie RPGs made in America, the word on the lips of everyone for the last few years has been Undertale! Undertale came out in September of 2015 and made so many waves. Undertale was developed by Toby Fox, of Massachusetts. The game was originally released for PC and OSX, and eventually brought to Linux, then PlayStation 4 and Vita, and now there's even a version coming to Nintendo Switch at some point. The fact that the game was made by just one dude in three years is absolutely staggering! I've been told I need to play this game, and I've been told that I need to not look up anything about the game's story before playing it, and I haven't. So I'll say the same to you! Don't look up anything else about the game, just go give it a shot, and it's currently half-off for the Steam summer sale!!
“Shadows of Adam” is a game that's been on my radar for months, coming from developers Something Classic in my home-state of Kansas! “Shadows of Adam” is a gorgeous pixel-art romp currently available on PC and coming to the Nintendo Switch sometime later on. The game focuses heavily on character development, and features solid turn-based RPG mechanics, and is of course drop dead gorgeous. As an added bonus, the game is currently half-off on Steam today and tomorrow, which is a screaming deal!
Cosmic Star Heroine is a Sci-Fi RPG by Zeboyd Games. The game is another fantastic looking, inspired by the likes of Final Fantasy VII, Chrono Trigger and Mass Effect. Cosmic Star Heroine features 11 playable characters, and eschews random encounters instead opting for scripted encounters. The game was originally released for Windows and PlayStation 4 in 2017, with the possibility of a Nintendo Switch version in the future. Cosmic Star Heroine is also currently half-off on Steam until the end of July 5th.
Battle Chasers: Nightwar is a JRPG with its tropes on backwards. Based on the comic book series of the same name, and inspired by fantastic RPGs from the past, Battle Chasers is a visually stunning piece of art to behold. The game was developed by Airship Syndicate in Texas, and has been released on all major current platforms. And I'm starting to see a trend, because this game is also half-off today and tomorrow for the Steam Summer sale!
And finally, Saturday Morning RPG is a game that was developed by Mighty Rabbit Studios, in North Carolina. The game is a quirky turn-based RPG that was originally released on iOS in 2012, but has been since released on PC, OSX, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita

Kingdom Hearts 2 is what solidified the series as a top-tier Action RPG series!
Welcome back to The Game Collection! I am SuperDerek, and this is Kingdom Hearts 2!
Kingdom Hearts 2 is in my mind, legendary, in the realm of PlayStation 2 Action RPGs. It's what essentially cemented the Kingdom Hearts series in my mind as a top-tier Action RPG series against which I would measure Action RPGs for years to come. But it's also the first game in the series I played that helped me realize that there's also a big problem in the Kingdom Hearts series.
In Kingdom Hearts, the story picks up with our hero Roxas, wait, what happened to Sora?! Who's this Roxas guy? Well, whatever. The game starts up with our hero Roxas living out his life as an average adolescent enjoying his carefree summer-vacation. This proves to be more difficult to do than expected between summer jobs, last-minute homework assignments, and oh yeah, a bunch of silver Nobodies all over the place causing mayhem. Well, to cut a long story short after winning a struggle tournament, it's revealed that it was all basically a long tutorial for the real meat of the game where you DO play as Sora. But who was that Roxas kid and where did he come from?
This is just one of many questions that Kingdom Hearts 2 raised for players like me, who at the time didn't feel like playing a Gameboy Advance version of Kingdom Hearts, or simply didn't have a Gameboy Advance on which to play. Sure, we all sort of know now, more or less, that there was a game that occurred between Kingdom hearts 1 and 2, and that for whatever reason it was regarded as canon, but needless to say, it was simply one of many reasons that Kingdom Hearts has built up a name for itself as being hard to follow, and confusing.
In Kingdom Hearts 2, the gist of the story is you're still playing as Sora, who is trying to track down his friends Riku and Kairi, while at the same time trying to save the world from the Heartless, and now these new fiends, the Nobodies. And to make matters worse, Sora is starting to bump into hooded figures known as Organization 13. And they all seem to have a bone to pick with Sora. Who is Organization 13? And what do they want with Sora? These are more questions that Kingdom Hearts 2 will never really fill you in on, by itself.

• Nayuta No Kiseki Kai coming to PS4 in 2021 in Japan.

o I’ve been quiet on the subject of this game since its release for a couple of reasons.
I haven’t played it, don’t own it, so at first it was hard to tell if this was picky gamers being picky gamers
• After all, Fallout 3 and New Vegas were incredibly buggy upon release
Also the news just makes me sad. I wanted to play this game and love it, but that is something that may not get a chance to happen.
o Cyberpunk 2077 came out in an essentially unplayable or laughable state for current-gen consoles, so much so that Sony and Xbox have pulled the game from their stores and are issuing refunds to anyone who requests one.
Massive fan outcry and backlash have memed on the game since launch, it’s a massive dumpster fire situation.
For reference, FO76 as bad as it was, was never pulled from shops like this.
o Now it looks like CDRP may be facing a class action lawsuit
There’s a lot of moving parts, much more than I want to cover right now really, but I do want to say that my hope is CDPR can turn this around.
