My work provides an optimistic view of technology’s role in shaping our identity and relationships with each other.
The subjects are strangers to me, just as they are to the viewer of the finished work. Being a visual artist, I use my eyes to learn about the person, and in the process find commonalities between us.
Knitting (a form of binary code) is included because of its continuous flow of fibers that mirrors our interconnectedness as people.
These pieces are created using new and old machines. Incorporating technology in the process reflects my life with metal implants; as I am a balance between organic and inorganic so should my art.

These are the top 3 reasons why I would send rejections to artist proposals when I was a gallery director
The application was incomplete or unclear
The proposed art wasn’t a good fit for the theme of the exhibit or gallery project.
The artwork is similar to the work of another artist we were already committed to working with. This was usually something basic like similar subject matter or medium etc…
Notice how quality and uniqueness of the artwork wasn’t one of the top 3 reasons proposals were rejected. In my 20 year career in arts administration sitting in and on countless juries I never once heard the jury laugh at a proposal, say the work was garbage, question why the applicant thinks they’re an artist. None of that.

I know it can feel disheartening to receive rejection letters but please don’t respond by making a dramatic pivot in your art-making. Keep making the art that brings you joy and communicates the ideas you want to express.
