30 Day Pushup Challenge | Tips & Benefits
I started this challenge because I walk so much during the day, at least 5 miles, aka 10,000 steps, that I get a good amount of cardio in just in my day-to-day so to compliment my lower body fitness I wanted to do an upper body fitness challenge so that I can be well-rounded, and what better than a pushup challenge!

A pushup you can do basically anywhere!

I’ve done them in co-working spaces and at my place. I’ve done them in bathrooms and in kitchens. I’ve done 100 a day for 30 days.

As I went through the challenge there was no day where I struggled to hit that 100th pushup. I might do a challenge in the future where I tack on additional pushups each day so maybe start with 100 a day and then the next day do 101, or just do one rep of 25 and then one rep the next day of 26 and see how high I can go overtime.

Toward the middle of the challenge I felt a muscle soreness or tightness in my chest, which I think feels good.

I tracked my 25 reps for a total of 4 a day on a piece of paper that I wrote on top of my to-do list. I’d space out the reps throughout the day because on the few occasions where I waited to do them all in the evening it was obviously a lot harder.

Now for you this challenge might seem laughable or it may seem impossible so adjust the details to your liking.

Instead of aiming for 100 pushups a day aim for 200 or 20.

Instead of doing four reps of 25 do 10 reps of 10 or one rep of 100.

Instead of doing military style pushups as I did you can make them easier by doing them on an incline or doing so-called girl pushups or life your feet up higher or adjust your hands to either workout your triceps more or chest more.

Overall I think pushups are such an awesome workout because they hit so many parts of your chest and you need no equipment.

I think this is a great challenge for people who feel like they don’t have time to dedicate to a 20 minute workout.

I think it is also useful for breaking bad habits so for example if you’re working or studying and have a strong urge to go on Facebook then make a rule that before you can go on Facebook or YouTube you must do 10 pushups.

They’re great to do in the morning to wake you up or in the afternoon when you’re starting to feel sluggish after lunch.

Maybe get gloves if you find it gross to touch the floor in some places.

This challenge will also push your comfort zone. Kind of like Tim Ferris saying to lay in the middle of a Starbucks to do pushups try doing 25 pushups, or even in your office and people might find you weird.

But I think being weird is such a good thing because by not thinking like everyone else and not behaving like everyone else is the only way you can change the way everyone else thinks and behaves.
