Ansys APDL: For the given truss, a horizontal load of P=4000N is applied in the X-direction at
node 2.
a) Evaluate the stresses in the elements
b) Determine the reaction force at node 2 in the Y-direction
Cross Sectional Area, A = 0.15m X 0.15m
Young's Modulus, E = 2.1 X 108 KN/m2
Poisson's Ratio = 0.3

A small railroad bridge is constructed of steel members, all of which have a cross-sectional area of 3250 mm2. A train stops on the bridge, and the loads applied to the truss on one side of the bridge are as shown in the below figure. Estimate how much the point R moves horizontally because of this loading. Also determine the nodal displacements and element stresses.
Truss Analysis in Ansys APDL
Find the deflections at the nodes for the truss configuration shown in below figure (Transmission Tower). Cross-sectional Area, A = 75mm X 75mm for each member.
Young's Modulus, E = 2.1 X 108 KN/m2
Poisson's Ratio = 0.3
Load Calculations:
1) 10 X Cos 120 = 5KN; 2) 10 X Sin 120 = 8.7 KN
