Final Fantasy IV: The After Years [PC] #014, Yang: Adamantoise; Edward: Damcyan Castle
This is video #014 in my playthrough of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years for the PC. This is episode 4 of Yang's Tale: The Master of Fabul and episode 1 of Edward's Tale: Star-Crossed Damcyan.

Previously, Yang, Ursula, and company began sailing for Baron. Unfortunately, their ship got damaged en route and lost fuel. So, they docked at the Adamant Isle - Forest. Yang went off in search of the needed Palm Oil. Not content to wait on him, Ursula went in the forest as well with a retinue of Monks. Several flashbacks concerning Yang and Ursula took place. They reached the save point in the sixth zone. Now, they will continue on in search of Yang and the Palm Oil. After concluding Yang's Tale, we will move on to Edward's Tale.
Adamant Isle - Forest:
Ursula's party resumes at the save point in their sixth zone of the Adamant Isle - Forest. They rest a couple of times for a new moon. This will enhance special abilities, including Ursula's Chakra.
The party exits east. They arrive in the southern and eastern corridor of their fifth zone.
To the northeast, they reach the small southeastern clearing of the fourth zone. The party frees up a pair of Ice Claws. After preparing, they examine the lone palm tree. They seem to have found what they need, but guess what: it is under guard!
Ursula and the Monks must battle an Adamantoise. To start out, they cannot do much damage to it. The Adamantoise will bring the three Monks down to critical HP.
We cut to an instructive flashback involving Yang, a couple of Monks, and Ursula. Yang imparts the valuable lesson of finding your target's weak point.
Back to the battle, Ursula employs a new ability, Tenketsu. Then, Yang welcomely kicks his way into the battle! All right! Yang and Ursula have Ice Claws equipped to exploit the Adamantoise's weakness to ice. Their Five Star Crimson Palm band is maxed out, and it is perfect for dealing damage to the giant tortoise. It can even inflict Slow on the beast.
At the end of the battle, Monk C reaches Level 18.
A scene takes place afterwards. The party obtains the Palm Oil. Ursula officially learns her new command, Tenketsu. Yang has some good news for her, too. Yang and Ursula learn a new band: Twin Wing Frenzy.
After the scene, we regain control of the party by the palm tree. They have to backtrack through the zones that Ursula and the Monks went through. Simply having Yang back in the party is a great help.
On the way back, Ursula reaches Level 21.
I am still puzzled by that empty dead end in the northwest of the fourth zone. It looks like just the sort of place where game designers would put some treasure.

Previously, Heorot continued grinding in Escha - Ru'Aun. He has earned a total of 191 Job Points as Red Mage. In this video, he will do some more Job Point grinding as Red Mage in Escha - Ru'Aun.
Heorot resumes in his Mog House in Bastok. He picks up a Merit Point upgrade.
Then, he heads out to Bastok Mines.

Heorot arrives at Home Point #1 at G-5. Up the hill, he examines the Undulating Confluence at G-5 to enter Escha - Ru'Aun.

Heorot arrives at H-11. After summoning his Trust NPCs, he hunts some more Eschan Il'aern in this zone.
Heorot accrues 1 Job Point for an overall total of 192 Job Points earned. He has a current total of 6 Job Points.
When he has finished for now, he uses the Undulating Confluence at H-11 to return to Misareaux Coast, Tavnazian Archipelago.

Heorot arrives at G-5. Just down the hill to the west, he uses Home Point #1 at G-5 to teleport to Port Jeuno.
Port Jeuno (time 1:03:03):
Heorot trades his Crests to Shami at H-8 for storage.
Then, he teleports to Bastok Markets.
Bastok Markets (time 1:04:43):
Heorot trades his Copper A.M.A.N. Voucher to Isakoth at E-11. In Mjoll's Goods, he sells his loot to Olwyn at E-11.
Then, he teleports to Bastok Mines.

Previously, the party carried out a few quests originating in Colony Lambda: "The Lost Off-Seer", "Lambda's Problem", and "Restart". Now, they will move on with the story.
The party resumes in Colony Lambda, Pentelas Region. There is a new quest available, but Level 42 is the suggested level, so the party will do it later.
The party skip travels to the Old Way Camp in the Old Cliffside Way. They approach the camp for a scene with Dorin and Bambam, the kids that ran away from Colony 4. This starts the standard quest "A More Balanced Recipe".
The first objective is to acquire some Bubblesia Nectar at Amoney's Hallows in the Great Cotte Falls. The party already has enough, so the quest automatically progresses to the next scene.
Next, the party goes up the stairs east of the camp and examines the "Tree" target. This triggers another scene. Yikes, what a big bug!
Afterwards, the party battles the Sweet Plambus. It is Level 37, so if your level is lower, you may want to save it for later. A scene takes place when the bug is down. The party obtains Fermenting Bug Juices.
The party returns to the Old Way Camp for another scene. "A More Balanced Recipe" complete!
The party talks to Loloka for "Nopon Register". She gives them a Yellow Nopon Pebble. Loloka's Collectopaedia Card is now available. The party also shops at the Old Way Caravan. At the camp, they level up with bonus EXP.
For the main story, the party climbs the stairs east of the camp and continues on. When they reach the Spring of Rhonnar, they go up the ramp to the east, then turn south to find a Container on a ledge.
They have found the materials to turn in the Collectopaedia Card for Dinkidinki of Colony 30.
The party continues on into the High Maktha Wildwood. A scene takes place as they arrive. Afterwards, they discover the Vista of Rhonnar landmark. They go south down the nearby ramp to find a Soldier's Husk under where they entered.
The party goes down the stairs to the north for another scene. Uh oh, some more trouble! This starts the Hero Quest "Natural Selection".
After the scene, it is boss time against the Mystery Agnus Ninjas. There are five Agnus Fighters to defeat. Agnus Fighter A has the most HP, so it is probably best to save her for last. Another scene takes place after the battle.
Afterwards, the party must follow the Mystery Agnian Trial through the wildwood. They go down a long stairwell that starts to their west.
A scene takes place as they approach a tightrope device. The party cannot follow right away, but there is an alternate route. They discover the Spring of Quarquaka location nearby.
Down the path to the south and east, they find a semi-hidden Container to the south.
As the party continues on, a scene takes place. After they meet Juniper, they discover Colony Tau. They discover the Colony Tau Entrance landmark as they enter. The Colony Tau, Crop Fields are east of the entrance.
As the party approaches the target marker, a scene takes place. Uh oh, monsters are coming.
The party approaches the northern entrance to the colony for a scene. After the scene, it is boss time against the Tau-Raiding Monsters, three Annon Rhinons. Juniper and some other Colony Tau soldiers participate in beating up the monsters.
A scene takes place after the battle. Colony Tau is liberated. "Natural Selection" complete! Juniper joins the party as a Hero. Noah inherits her class, Stalker, an attacker role. More importantly, the party obtains her traversal skill, Rope Sliding. They can now slide down those ropes they have seen at various places. The party earns "The Art of Flow", which allows canceling normal Arts into other normal Arts.
The party now has Collectopaedia Cards from Carson and Glory of Colony Tau. They have what they need to turn in Glory's.
Next time, the party will check around Colony Tau and perhaps move on.

Previously, Heorot carried out the quest "The Gobbiebag Part VI" and increased his inventory to 60 slots. He also continued grinding in Escha - Ru'Aun. He has earned a total of 233 Job Points as Red Mage. In this video, he will carry out the quest "The Gobbiebag Part VII" to increase his inventory some more. Then, he will do some more Job Point grinding as Red Mage in Escha - Ru'Aun.
Heorot resumes in his Mog House in Bastok. In his delivery box, he receives gil for two Plutons that sold at auction. Thank you to the buyer(s)!
Then, Heorot heads out to Bastok Mines.

At the auction house, Heorot picks up the items that he will need for "The Gobbiebag Part VII". Under Materials, then Goldsmithing, he picks up a Deathstone. Under Materials, then Smithing, he picks up an Adaman Ingot. Under Materials, then Clothcraft, he picks up a square of Rainbow Cloth. Under Materials, then Leathercraft, he picks up a square of Lynx Leather.
Afterwards, Heorot teleports to Lower Jeuno.
Lower Jeuno (time 3:43):
Heorot enters Muckvix's Junk Shop at H-9. In the front room, he talks to Bluffnix. Bluffnix first talks about Cavernous Maws. When Heorot talks to Bluffnix again, Bluffnix asks if Heorot wants a bigger bag. Heorot answers "Yes". Bluffnix issues the quest "The Gobbiebag Part VII". Before increasing the size of Heorot's bag, Bluffnix wants a square of Lynx Leather, an Adaman Ingot, a square of Rainbow Cloth, and a Deathstone.
Heorot trades the Lynx Leather, Adaman Ingot, Rainbow Cloth, and Deathstone to Bluffnix. Bluffnix adds 5 slots to Heorot's bag for a total of 65 slots. "The Gobbiebag Part VII" complete! Heorot can now upgrade the size of his Mog Sack by talking to an Artisan Moogle. He will carry out additional Gobbiebag quests later.

Previously, Heorot continued the Seekers of Adoulin storyline. He is now on Seekers of Adoulin Mission 1-8: "Arciela Appears Again". So far, he has spent 33 Imprimaturs on "Support: Ceizak Battlegrounds", a repeatable assignment for the Couriers' Coalition. He will do another run and then proceed with Mission 1-8: "Arciela Appears Again".
Heorot resumes in his Mog House in Bastok. He withdraws his Copper A.M.A.N. Vouchers from storage and then heads outside.

Heorot teleports to Bastok Markets.

Heorot trades his Copper A.M.A.N. Vouchers to Isakoth at E-11. Then, he talks to Isakoth and chooses "Exchange A.M.A.N. currencies". He converts 30 of his vouchers to 30,000 Sparks of Eminence and 10 to 10,000 Kinetic Units.
It is pretty easy to convert Sparks of Eminence to gil. Under Level 71 - 98 equipment, he goes to the third page and buys a lot of Acheron Shields for 2,755 Sparks of Eminence apiece. Then, he goes to Mjoll's Goods nearby and sells the shields to Olwyn at E-11. Depending on fame, they can sell for 27,000+ gil apiece. Goodbye, poorhouse! Note, though, that a player can only exchange up to 100,000 Sparks of Eminence per week.
Under Level 35 - 39 equipment, Mara's Hexagun on the third page costs 340 Sparks. Under Level 40 - 50 equipment, a Flame Degen on the first page costs 480 Sparks. One of each of these, combined with 36 Acheron Shields, will come out to exactly 100,000 Sparks of Eminence for the optimum exchange, provided you have that much.
Heorot does not focus solely on gil-conversion. Under Level 99 equipment, he picks up an Espial Cap, Espial Bracers, and Espial Socks, which are all Item Level 117 without the Su1 requirement. When he equips these, combined with his current gear, he reaches Item Level 117.
Afterwards, Heorot visits the auction house and picks up another Halcyon Rod. But I still think 50,000 gil for a breakable fishing rod is high.
Then, Heorot teleports to Western Adoulin.
Western Adoulin (time 14:47):
Heorot goes to the Couriers' Coalition and talks to the Task Delegator at G-7. Under Frontline Support, he undertakes "Support: Ceizak Battlegrounds" again. He again spends 3 Imprimaturs on this assignment. He receives the Cei. FB Op. Materials Container temporary key item to deliver to a Frontier Bivouac in Ceizak Battlegrounds or Yahse Hunting Grounds. He will deliver this one to the Yahse Hunting Grounds.
Heorot uses the Waypoint at H-8 to teleport to Frontier Bivouac #3 in the Yahse Hunting Grounds, East Ulbuka Territory.

Previously, the party carried out Quests 090 - 093 and finished the Rangao Village substory. They helped Chief Krifgen and Guran deal with a vengeful character named Gagai. One of the rewards was a new costume for Mjoll. They are now just over halfway through with the substories. Now, they will begin the Agurani Village substory.
Rangao Village (time 0:28):
The party resumes in the church in Rangao Village. They go outside and Zoom to Agurani Village.
Agurani Village (time 3:22):
The party takes the elevator at B-6 to the lower level of town. At E-6, they talk to a dwarf boy with the unfortunate name of Natsi. Natsi issues Quest 094: "I Want to See the Talking Staff!", the first Agurani Village substory quest. The prerequisite is to have met Sage Horro on the train. Natsi and his sister Kokon want to see Sage Broggen. The next destination is the Mogare Camp.
The party Zooms to the Mogare Camp in the Mogarim Highway.
Mogarim Highway (time 5:51):
As the party enters the Mogare Camp at C-3, a scene with Natsi and Kokon takes place. They pester Broggen and Broggen's Staff in the camp. The next objective is to report to Natsi in Agurani Village.
After the scene, the party explores Mogarim Highway in search of unfound treasures, notably in the east and southwest. The party starts by going east.
The party takes the tunnel at F-3. At E-1 in the tunnel, a barrel contains a chunk of Copper Ore (どうのこうせき). A barrel at F-1 contains another chunk of Copper Ore (どうのこうせき).
The tunnel exit at F-1 takes the party to G-3 in the eastern hills. There are several little caves in this area, and the exit to Ezesol Valley is in the northeast.
At G-3/G-4, a random blue chest contains a Cottontop (コットン華).
The party checks the cave at G-3/G-4. It does not contain anything of interest.
The party checks the cave just to the southwest at G-4. Nothing but a sparkly spot.
In the southeast of G-4, the party finds a tunnel entrance. It leads a short way northwest and leads out to north-central G-4.
Next, the party enters a cave at G-4/H-4. At H-3 in the cave, a black chest contains a Gold Nugget (ゴールドストーン).
The party enters another cave just to the north at G-4/H-4. At H-2 in the cave, a barrel in the first intersection contains a Strong Medicine (上やくそう).
The party enters another cave at F-5. At F-4 in the cave, barrels contain a Medicinal Herb (やくそう) and 33 gold. In a dead end at F-4/F-5, pots contain a Strong Medicine (上やくそう) and a phial of Magic Water (まほうのせいすい). At the southeastern end, a black chest at F-5/G-5 contains a Yellow Eye (イエローアイ). A barrel at F-5 contains a chunk of Copper Ore (どうのこうせき).

Next, the party makes their way south of the camp. They enter a cave at C-6/D-6. At C-5 in the south of the cave, barrels contain a Medicinal Herb (やくそう) and a chunk of Copper Ore (どうのこうせき). At C-5/C-6, a red chest at the southeastern end of the cave contains 3 chunks of Silver Ore (ぎんのこうせき). In the northeast, a barrel at C-5 contains a Medicinal Herb (やくそう).
The party leaves the cave and heads for the southwest of the zone. They enter the southwestern cave at B-8. At A-8 in the southeast of the cave, a barrel contains a chunk of Copper Ore (どうのこうせき). Near the intersection at A-7/A-8, barrels contain an Antidotal Herb (どくけしそう) and a Medicinal Herb (やくそう).
The party enters the cave a short way to the northeast at B-8. Just inside, a barrel at B-7 contains a Medicinal Herb (やくそう). In the northeast of the cave, a red chest contains 160 gold, and barrels contain 11 gold, a Medicinal Herb (やくそう), and a Tombola Ticket.
At A-5, a barrel by the door to the Mogare Monastery contains a piece of Horse Manure (うまのふん).
The party enters the Mogare Monastery (モガレ修道院) at A-5/B-5.

Previously, Davilas ventured to Kol in the northeast. Then, he explored the Rocky Mountain Cave in the west of Alefgard. Now, he will venture south from Kol to the town of Rimuldar.
South of Kol, Davilas ventures through the poison marsh and enters the Marsh Cave. It is a straight shot to the southern exit, which leads to the large eastern island.
In the midst of a lake, Davilas finds the town of Rimuldar. He has enough funds to pick up a Steel Broadsword upon arrival. Also, in the northwest of town, a merchant sells Magic Keys! In this release of the game, Magic Keys cost 16 gold apiece. Davilas can only carry 6 Magic Keys at a time.
Afterwards, Davilas begins grinding around Rimuldar. When he has the funds, he picks up a suit of Full Plate Armour.
Davilas returns to Tantegel Castle. With Magic Keys, he can access new areas of the castle. There is a treasure room in the west. In the northeast, there is another Magic Key merchant. In the southeast of the castle's exterior, a stairway leads to a secret basement. Davilas obtains the Sunstone there.
On the way back towards Rimuldar, Davilas visits Kol and picks up the Faerie Flute.
Davilas continues grinding near Rimuldar. He goes to the hills south of town, where Gold Golems can appear. When he has enough money, he picks up a Suit of Magic Armour.
Davilas saves in Tantegel Castle. Next time, he will visit Galen's Grave. Then, he will continue grinding.

Previously, the party wrapped up the Chapter 4 story at Keves Castle. They subdued Moebius D & J and took out the Annihilator. Afterwards, they unwittingly made their way to the Throne Room. There, they defeated the Queen of Keves, who was not what she appeared to be. They also ran into the familiar-looking Consul N. After the end-of-chapter scenes, the party arrived at the Ekdaso Verge in the Syra Hovering Reefs, Keves Castle Region. Before they resume their journey to Swordmarch, they will do some side quests, starting in Colony Tau.
After resuming, the party puts Juniper in the party. They skip travel to Colony Tau in the High Maktha Wildwood, Pentelas Region.
The party's Colony Tau affinity is now at Rank 2. Either because of that or because of the party's story progress, some NPCs have new dialogue, and the Tau Traderpon is now available.
Near the Colony Tau Entrance, Cardamine has a couple of info topics: "Where's Imogen?" and "Mushroom Knowledge". At the Crop Fields, Graziana has the info "The Nopon are Here".
At the Canteen, the party discusses "Mushroom Knowledge" for bonus EXP. The word you're looking for is "mycology", Manana. I think we need to reconsider who's preparing meals.
The party also discusses "Colony Tau's Off-Seer", learned in video #037. This starts the standard quest "Off-Seeing Customs". The destination is to the north.
The party skip travels to the Vista of Rhonnar landmark. They take the rope slide to the north. Then, they climb down the stairs and walls to the east. When they reach the target, a scene takes place.
After the scene, the party takes out a pack of five Luina Volffs. More scenes takes place after the battle. The party has already sent the Soldiers' Husks here, so there is nothing else to do. "Colony Tau's Off-Seer" complete!
The party skip travels back to Colony Tau, where some NPCs have new dialogue. At the Canteen, the party discusses "Harvest Time". This starts the standard quest "The Harvest".
The party approaches the target NPCs in the Crop Fields. This triggers a scene with Carson and Glory. Next, the party examines the targets in the east field to harvest three sacks of Potatoes.
When this is done, they approach Carson and Glory near the Entrance for another event. Time to take out some beasties!
Out the front gate, the party takes out twelve Spud-Starved Beasts. The first wave consists of Hungry Anloods. Next, there are Hungry Skwarors. The final wave consists of Hungry Quadwings.
After the battle, the party reports to Carson in Colony Tau. This triggers a scene. "The Harvest" complete! The party also learns the info "Forest Living".
A couple of NPCs have new dialogue after this quest.
At the Canteen, the party discusses "Forest Living" for bonus EXP. Then, they discuss "Raine's Departure". This starts the standard quest "The Hunter".
The party goes north out the Entrance and talks to Geum. This triggers a scene.
Afterwards, they skip travel to the Sparkling Pool Camp. They go northwest and approach Raine for a cutscene.
Monster Tracks appear east of Raine. The party examines them and follow them. They lead towards the Sparkling Pool Camp and then east.
The tracks eventually guide the party into the Low Maktha Wildwood. Before the party gets too deep in, a cutscene takes place. They decide to return to the Colony.
The party skip travels back to Colony Tau. They report to Raine in the infirmary for a cutscene. "The Hunter" complete!
The party's affinity with Colony Tau reaches Rank 3. Some NPCs have new dialogue following this quest.
The party closes out by picking up some more abilities on their Soul Trees under Interlink. Four of them unlock Arts Canceling.
Next time, they may continue questing in Colony Tau.

Previously, Davilas began the Version 7.0 story "The Story of Wold's Sacred Vein". After revisiting Director Dura and other friends at the Place of Beginning in Xenius, Davilas returned to the Mountain Pass Shrine with Melearde and Polte. Meeting a spectral Xeneshia again, he unlocked the western door to the Wold Region. His next destination was the Big Tree Birdcage, where Xeneshia had been imprisoned. On the way, Davilas traveled west to the town of Holy Lake Zenit, where Melearde saved a girl named Denissa from a mysterious demon wolf. In gratitude, Denissa and her friend, Roiza, advised the party to go north. Denissa also gave Melearde a certain medallion. Davilas traveled north to the Big Tree Birdcage, where he defeated the Birdcage Guardian and freed Xeneshia. But when he and his friends returned to the Big Tree Birdcage, little Denissa had disappeared, leaving Roiza with no memory of her existence. Now, Davilas will take the southern gate from Zenit and travel west to the Wold Curtain. He will conclude the Version 7.0 storyline in this video.
