Anime Fried Chicken back once again with a Demon Slayer : Kimetsu no Yaiba discussion video. Let’s cut to the chase, who wins in a straight up sword fight. Tanjirou or Zenitsu? The wet boy versus the zappy boi.
I did a bit of googling and I found 1 post on reddit and a couple of videos on the youtubes covering this theoretical fight. The reasoning I came to for the battle was pretty different to those that I had come upon so far, so I thought I’d throw my hat into the ring and make a video. Make sure to subscribe if you like this and I’ll be sure to make more versus battle theory videos.
OK Covering some ground rules. In this scenario, Zenitsu will be either sleep fighting full strength, or will not be his usual wimpy cry baby self, and instead in full confidence mode, this is a fight between men. Well boys. Boy men. This will be Tanjirou from episode 19 onwards. Able to use techniques from his dance of the fire god skillset.
As I mentioned, from youtube, the guys at Shounen showdown talked about this fight, and one of the guys chose Tanjirou and one chose Zenitsu. Great video go check their stuff out. And then this guy at channel ChunkyJamar concluded that Zenitsu would take the cake. Check out his stuff too, channel links in the description.
SO. I’m not going to set the scene, to be honest I think it would be a waste of time. I think this is such a clean win for best boy, one slice man, Zenitsu.
Now I know what you’re thinking, but anime fried chicken, Tanjirou is so much more versatile, he has 10 breath of water techniques and something like 12 dance of the fire god forms on top of that. Surely Tanjiro can pick one of these forms to to block, parry or counter Zenitsu’s Thunderclap flash?

Let me tell you why. Cast your mind back to this one scene in which Tanjiro explains himself in episode 3 while fighting Sabito. After 6 months of training with Sabito and Makomo, he failed to beat Sabito every time they fought, until he did beat him.
It was the first time that sabito had brought a real sword to the battle instead of his wooden one, a show of respect, accepting Tanjiro’s challenge as a battle between men.
Tanjiro states that head on 1v1 battles are simple, whoever is stronger and faster, wins.
And on that day he was faster.
Now. imagine instead of Sabito, that was Zenitsu. The breath of Thunder is all about speed. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba 197, there’s something visceral about watching Tamayo claw her nails through Muzan’s face in the opening couple of panels. Oh baby.
Kinks aside, another week another chapter concluding the Demon Slayer series and to those saying the pacing is off and the fight is dragging out, please, you don’t know how wrong you are.
This chapter is 100% fighting and bloodshed, I cannot stress how awesome ufotable will make these panels look in the anime adaptation in like 10 years time.
And this week’s action kicks off with Muzan going berserk. If you were to track Muzan over the last 5 chapters, you can watch him slowly lose his composure devolving into a ball of frustration.
The once calculating and meticulously careful fighter with well placed and timed attacks, is now swinging mindlessly.
First and foremost. Iguro is laid out. Doesn’t look like he sustained lethal damage, but he hit the deck and didn’t get back up. Good night sweet prince. The same barrage of attacks also took down the Ubuyashiki kid’s vision crows and seemed to have dealt some passive damage to him through his spiritual link. With Rengoku’s dad the former pillar of flame trying to get the brat to pull his shid together.
But the silver lining here with snake boy down, is that we can bring the band back together, and we find Zenitsu and Inosuke back on their feet and joining the fight, perhaps hoping with Tanjiro and Tamayo softening up muzan, they won’t get dispatched again so quickly. Here’s hoping.
WIth the same attack that floored Iguro, Tanjiro was also rocked to his core. And he’s numb. He has the will to fight but his body is unresponsive and I’m thinking this is an awful time to take a nap.
However some words of encouragement from Zenitsu and Inosuke do the job and Tanjiro is up and at em’, not before plunging his sword into himself for a little wake up shock therapy. I think theres better ways to go about it, maybe a some caffeine and self reflection, but whatever gets the job done, he’s back up and swinging.
Some good feels came rushing through as we see Tokioka Giyuu stumbling twards Muzan looking to pickup where he left off, and even himejima, a couple of pounds lighter, with chain in gob looking to scrap.
But can we just spare a thought for this giant mouth, this giant gash that has opened up in Muzan’s chest with teeth protruding. And here’s where I segue into next week’s chapter predictions. That mouth is for munching, and someone is going to get eaten or absorbed by Muzan to balance the scales in his favour. SO, who on the battlefield will be eaten? I’ll give you 3 seconds until I explain why

Anime Fried Chicken back once again with another Rising of the Shield Hero Video. Right.
I wasn’t expecting to, but I really enjoyed shield hero season one. And there were five scenes in particular that stick out as key moments that engaged me as a viewer. The first two were simply story beats that resonated with every fibre of my being and filled me with seething rage.
I’ve spoke about it in my previous shield hero video, and of course these outrageous moments were when Malty had slandered Naofuimi with false accusations of no-no assault, and secondly when Malty had interfered in Naofumi’s duel in an attempt to take away the one remaining light in his world, Raphtalia. So let’s talk about the next one!

Chronologically speaking, this video will focus on my third favorite moment, as Naofumi summons unseen brutality and hidden strength to overcome the boss of the wave, effectively soloing what the rest of the combined cardinal heroes, couldn't, and kill the Soul Eater.
Earlier in the story, Nafumi was overcome by staggering anger and this manifested in a new customization he was able to unlock, the rage shield. The rage shield is under the umbrella of the of the wrath series, which in turn is in an item set under the Curse Series, and quite handily boosts his shield’s offensive capabilities a ton.
Now you’re probably asking, how in the heck was Naofumi able to use his shield to slice a dragon’s tail clean off, and I’m right here with you. But today we’re looking at one of the rage shield’s special attacks, the Iron Maiden.
The requirements to activate the iron maiden ability is to first use shield prison to capture your foe. Next follow up with a change shield attack in the form of piercing needles. The final requirement is to recite the following spooky chant:
“"Within this virgin of cold ore, who shall swallow even your screams with her embrace. Suffer in anguish as your entire body is stabbed and skewered! Iron Maiden .”
The torturous device will then materialise and encapsulate your enemy along with the shield prison. Only to have the walls of the maiden close-in, plunging 10 foot needles through your foe sealing their fate.
Drawbacks from using the attack are that it drains the user’s SP to complete exhaustion, and we’ve seen that this isn’t a one hit KO against all opponents as glas

Annnnnd we’re back. Demon slayer : Kimetsu no yaiba chapter 195. The battle rages on. Holy potato monkey Nezuko’s arrived - But I’ll get to that. Let’s start with the cover art. Can I just say how happy I am to have Tamayo’s cat grace the cover page healing up Zenitsu. Glad to see the little thing up and about after it’s minor decapitation a couple of chapters back. Don’t at me dog stans, i’m a cat person you hear?
The first two pages this week are doing my favorite thing ever, having Muzan refer back to his fight with the original breath of the sun user, and continue to build him up as the OG god tier demon slayer.
As cool as Tanjirou is, having flash backs of the fallen sun bro Yoriichi described to us by Muzan seems to trigger the heck out of his PTSD, and makes my loins ache for fresh fight scenes with Yoriichi via flashbacks in future chapters. As unlikely as that is.
Call it a throwback or foreshadowing, but where we had Muzan confront Tanjirou just after the boys revival asking, which of the two of us are the real demon here, We have this mirrored onto Yorriichi, however with a more pained and distressed look on Muzan’s face declaring that Yoriichi was unequivocally, undeliabley the demon.
Yoriichi again painted as a leagues above everyone in terms of strength and remains GOAT status.
And Muzan’s tattered body is evidence alone. Dude should have been wearing his spf50 sunblock, because the scars left behind are burning Muzan’s skin like sunburn. Muzan has showed us countless times in the past his prowess with cell manipulation, and hiding his scars were just one facet of this.
Though with the toll the accelerated aging has taken on his body, he cannot keep up. And each of these moving scars is just a bulls eye for tanjiro to slice up. I’d love to see this fight adapted into a rhythm arcade game or maybe for a a vr headset game where you slash away at muzan. I’ll make a kickstarter.
Now Taniro isn’t the only Demon Slayer in this fight, we have Iguro playing support, and i’m thinking, really Iguro? I know we had his sad backstory not to long ago and he’s looking for an upwards trajectory in his own character arc. But he doesn't really have a close relationship to Tanjiro. Feels a weird choice to have him share the podium with Tanjiro after they cross the finishing line. And by that I mean obliterate Muzan. And because I’m thinking Iguro to be out of place here. I’m calling it now. Iguro is soooooo dead. That’s a deathflag. It’s waving.
But he’s spared for at least now, because Muzan is fuging booking it. He’s bolted. I’m conflicted whether this is true to his character or not. On

What the heck happened last week? Chapter 171 recap.
Genya got sliced up, but managed to chowdown on some of kokushibo’s hair allowing him to heal. Kokushibo loses the tip of his organic sword and an ear, Genya is making a decision for his next meal, he’lll choose the ear right? RIGHT?
Sanemi and HImejima, the pillars of wind and stone putting in work against Kokushibo, shredding his shirt and forcing Koku to go bankai.Even though they seem to be doinng well, I reckon this a red herring and that theres too much of a gap in strength, and even if Tokitou and Genya were in better shape and it was a 4 v 1, they should still lose.
Lastly, Kokushibo low key saying ‘If i can kill you two the others will be defeated easily’ - That’s the author flat out saying that the Sanemi and Himejima are the two strongest pillars. Suck it Iguro.
Story. I’m here for the plot AND the waifus.
OK so straight off the bat, Genya is back on his feet and he’s bandaging a sword to the mist pillars remaining hand. And in the next page Sanemi the Wind pillar loses a couple of digits. The stone pillar used his chain to parry the Kokushibo’s attack saving the majority of Sanemi, but a couple of fingers were lost to the cause.
The new young head of the Ubuyashiki household refuses to send another pillar to aid in the fight against the upper moon demon 1 kokushibo, ensuring that the 4 demon slayer in battle with him will be victorious. And ordering Giyuu and Tanjiro to proceed to Muzan Kibustuji!
Kokushibo gets his attack range doubled with his bankai release, and a speed boost also. Tokitou the mist pillar manages to save Sanemi from being mortally wounded but everyone except Genya is eating a barrage of attacks, it’s not looking great for the Demon Slayers.
Genya takes a moment or two (two pages that is, sorry three pages) to self reflect on how worthless he is. Suddenly he starts thinking of Tanjiro, and after being inspired, his morale soars.
And then he eats it. The tip of kokushibo’s blade that broke off. WHAT. GENYA WHAT ARE YOU DOING. You sould of just eaten the ear of his that was sliced off, why would you choose the blade?!

Chapter 242 Review of Black Clover. Asta the Angry Boy.

Finally, Finally Asta pushes his demon mode further, and all we needed was a little blood from Gauche, good night sweet prince. Black Clover chapter 242, one of my favorite in a while, and if you’re into rage berserker modes, you’re gonna love it.
And I cannot stress how happy I am to see Asta’s black demon mode envelope more of his body, almost looks like two thirds or thereabouts, with a much needed power boost as a kicker.
But getting ahead of ourselves, lets check out this chapter from the beginning and unpack all the other great stuff going on.
Now Gauche’s and Asta’s combo attack at the end of last chapter must have had some weight behind it because right off the bat we have Dante, shifting gears and pulling out 50% demon power to negate the attack. The perpetual smirk of his endures and he is not fazed in the slightest. And to add insult to injury, we have the classic goku standing on Nappa’s head moment. As Dante appears from the smoke, places his boot on Asta’s shoulder, and with a surge of gravity, sinks Asta to the ground.
With the pair in an asta sized crater below, Dante remains standing atop Asta as they shoot the breeze with Asta being unable to escape. Cue rouge appearing to help Asta with a twist of fate, only to have dante push to 60% dvil power, and rouge dematerialise to the shock of the gang. That ain't good. That was the only thing keeping them alive. And this sentiment couldn’t be more true as moments later dante impales and kills Gauche with a giant broadsword.
The blackbulls, pinned against the wall of their base unable to move can only watch in despair. But Asta, he absolutely loses it. Now let’s take a look at him in all his demonic glory. One of Asta’s arms clutching the Demon Slayer sword is entirely engulfed pitched black and his fingers have taken the shape of claws. A rams horn has protruded from the dark side of his head and he is drooling on the fanged side of his mouth. He is devolving into an absolute monster.
And a monster is what he needs to become if he wants to take on dante at 60% or beyond. Honestly at this point I struggle to see how Yami will be able to keep up in this battle of Devils. It feels very much like you need to be a devil to beat a devil at this point. But Yami’s got the black magic so let’s not count him out yet, or count him in for that matter as he’s not even here yet, WHERE YOU AT YAMI?
So predictions for next week. Considering how long it’s taken to eek out a little more of the devil from Asta over the last couple years, I don’t think we’ll be seeing Asta

Rui's Mother - Explaining the Spider Family of Natagumo Mountain - A Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Discussion
Hey Everyone, how’s it going, Anime Fried Chicken Here. Today’s Kimetsu no Yaiba, Demon Slayer video is discussing the Demon Moon Rui’s, Spider Family Mother. Let’s get into it.
The Natagumo Mountain arc has introduced some of the most interesting characters in the show so far. and the arc climax was easily the most high tension, it was excellently animated and had the most satisfying payoff yet.
The winning formula for building a block-buster shounen manga and anime adaptation, is a compelling cast of antagonists you can love to hate, and man did I hate R ui. Thematically, his character is brilliant, a stark contrast for Tanjiro and his core beliefs. His warped views of the necessaity of families and the role that each member plays in the house hold, was a far cry from the uncoditional love we have seen so far between the protagonist and Nezuko.
If you think back to how tragically Tanjiro lost nearly his entire family in the first episode, and that blood curdling scream as he first stumbled upon their bodies. Although in the manga I think it was a bit understated, but the voice actor in the anime really did it justice.
Now compare this with how casually Rui can inflct poth physical and mental torture on his newly founded family. He is the polar opposite to Tanjiro, and was an excellent villain for him to face. I’m hoping to make a video further down the line discussing Rui so let’s leave his discussion there for today and move on to explaining his spider family, starting with the Mother.
Rui’s mother is the first of the Spider Family we meet on Natagumo mountain. I’m curious to know, so give me a shout in the comments, did anyone else think that this demon was the big bad of the arc? I thought that her demon art and the Doflaming-esque ability to control people by threads, was incredibly strong. I especially didn’t expect it to turn out to be Rui as the Demon Moon on his first appearance, when we first see him speaking to his mother.
As part of Rui’s family fantasy, each member accepts blood from Rui and has their power boosted and gains the ability to change their appearance to match the rest of the family. The mother who initially appears to be an older, taller, bustier lady with a stern expression, reverts during a flashback into her original form, an innocent looking child-like demon. Her in-ability to maintain her new appearance is Rui’s trigger and sends him into a rage, and the mother is brutally punished by both Rui and the father spider.

So I think I described the premise of this chapter best in my Demon Slayer 203 spoiler video: This chapter is essentially a tug of war between Tanjiro’s family, friends, and demon slayers that tragically lost their lives, verus Muzan. With Tanjiro’s sanity being the rope. And Muzan has a pretty compelling argument promising Tanjiro he can become the ultimate being, the ultimate life form. But my guy Tanjiro, he’s tired. He’s done. And so he wakes up.
Now obviously there's a butt load more to this chapter with the bulk being Muzan’s sales pitch within Tanjiro’s mind realm and Tanjiro struggling to resurface, struggling to re-take his humanity. But in true shounen fashion Tanjiro pulls through with the help of his pals.
And it all is very shounen as we wrap up this arc. With the spirit of shounen genres and weekly shounen jumps motto friendship, effort, victory being the foundation of Kimetsu no yaiba. Though Demon Slayer separates itself from its competition with a knack for making us fall in love with a character or two before severing their limbs and / obliterating them entirely. Maybe a little more adult that the tag would let on.
For the artwork in this chapter, there's a great dynamic of illustrated textures here, with tanjiro being pulled from background art of veiny, vascular demon flesh into a more serene, bright garden of wisteria flowers. Though a minor detail in the black and white manga, try to imagine the vivid colours Tanjiro will transition through in the anime adaptation however many years down the line.
Now I’m not much of a Yaoi, or a Boys Love kind of guy, so I don’t know how deeply rooted the Tanjiro Muzan shipping fandom goes, but it feels like Gotouge went all out with sowing the seeds in these panels. Loads of shots of Muzan kinkily embracing Tanjiro I’m sure solidifying the niche of demon slayer doujins and fanfics for years to come.
And that’s great, but let’s talk about Tanjiro’s injuries. I predicted a couple of videos back Tanjiro’s regeneration would wear off as he regains his humanity and he would lose his arm and his wounds would open back up, killing him. Well this seems to be partly true as we see the inner pupil on his right eye is consistently shaded through the chapter to suggest it may no longer be functional. This was the eye with the massive ball of muzzan cells covering it for so long. Though this isn’t conducive as it’s not confirmed, and also differs from Kanao where her eyes are drawn dramatically differently when she lost use of one of her eyes. In contrast, Tanjiro’s eye
