In this episode we refurbish a Wico Command Control joystick from the 1980’s. The housing is cleaned up, the centering bushing is replaced, and a new strain relief for the cord in installed.
Before closing it back up we cover how to adjust the switches and a tip for adding ‘shims’ to keep the centering bushing housing from wiggling in use. Links to the parts used are below.

Description
Follow along with Part 2 of this hard-fought battle to bring an old TRS-80 Model 100 laptop back from the brink. Not being familiar with this machine the diagnosis was lengthy but with the help of the good folks on the Model 100 mailing list and Saleae logic analyzer it did spring back to life.
In Part 2 we finish the re-cap and replace the old NiCad memory backup battery with a modern Super Capacitor and learn a lot about the benefits and drawbacks of a super capacitor along the way. We also look at the bad RAM module to see if the fault can be diagnosed.

In this video we take a look at the Soigeneris/Hey_Birt! ‘C64 Case Saver Repair Kit’ for bread bin Commodore 64’s. A few months ago the idea for this kit was spawned when I needed to repair a case as part of a video. A few ideas were tried, and the Case Saver Kit was a result of that effort.
We take a look at the how to identify the case type you have so you can make sure to get the correct kit. I don’t have a ‘Type 2B’ top case. If you are in the USA and have one of these please contact me. I would like to take measurements so as to produce the correct repair tab for it.
Thanks for GadgetUK and Jan Beta for trying out kits. This helps out a lot so see how things fit on machines produced in other places in the world. Links to their videos are below.
NOTE: I set up a less expensive international shipping option for small packages like this. Please let me know if you have any problems.
