Sound familiar? This cut by ambient artists Global Communication was originally going to be included on a Tangerine Dream remix release titled (you guessed it) 'Love On A Real Train Remix', but due to some kind of disagreement between the two bands Tangerine Dream never included it. So Global Communication released it on their 76:14 disc as 5:23. The tracks are titled after their runtimes, the album title the entirety of all the tracks combined. It's really a fantastic album, one of the best in the ambient music genre. Its primary influence seems to be Vangelis's Blade Runner soundtrack, albeit mingled with neo-classical techno. Released in 1994, even after two decades the palette of sounds, from falling water to ominous hissing, is still absorbing.
I've always loved this song! I made this video from a wallpaper image I found on the Interwebs, video footage of moving clouds with some filters applied along with a couple other little tricks. Turned out kinda cool if I do say so myself!
This is the same video uploaded by YouTuber Tracy Kennedy. The band is Blouse, the song is Controller, and the video footage is from the 2014 dystopian movie The Giver, starring Brenton Thwaites, Odeya Rush, Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep. I removed Tracy's low bitrate music track (in Camtasia) and supplied my own WAV copy of the song at a better quality. I also extended the ending-clip and faded it out, whereas in Tracy's original version the video abruptly ends a second or two before the song does.
The languid, moody track goes well with the clips from The Giver. Since I really like the song and the (somewhat cringe) movie I figured I'd share the better-sounding (and fixed ending) version here.
Full credits to Tracy Kennedy and of course the band Blouse.
