Grace-energized Yielding
Romans 6:12-14
Romans 6:12-14 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. NKJV
Our second habit is translating the power of Christ's death by surrendering to His will, as we say no to our own. Paul commands us in v.12 “Therefore do not let sin reign” using a present imperative (“do not let sin continue to reign”) as it did before we were saved. This present imperative is negative so it is better translated, “Stop letting sin reign.” Sin reigns in our lives and bodies when we “obey it in its lusts”. When sin enslaves (v. 6), we are subjecting ourselves to the rule of our own desires. The Greek word epithumia refers to our “longings” or “desires,” which may be either good or evil, here these are sinful desires, and thus evil.
In v. 13 Paul repeats the command of verse 12 using more specific terms. He says, “Do not present (lit., “do not continue to present,” or “stop presenting”) your members to sin”. Then in contrast to the wrong choices Paul commands that we “present (aorist imper., “present once and for all”; also used in v. 19) This refers to a decision of the will.
Before sin can have power over a believer, it must first pass through his will (cf. Phil. 2:12, 13). So we can see that before grace can energize us that choice must pass through our will; and Paul continues “yourselves to God, as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God”. Paul says the same thing six chapters alter, “Offer your bodies as living sacrifices . . . to God” (Rom. 12:1).

Did you know what Jesus prayed for you and me as He walked towards Gethsemane, with His eyes lifted toward His Father in Heaven? He was praying for our sanctification. Jesus was praying that the Word of God, through the Spirit of God, would transform the daily lives of the Children of God. That’s us, folks. Listen to His prayer -
John 17:17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
Jesus prayed for holy living in us who would live in the future. He knew how bad it would be. Jesus spoke of terrible days ahead for this world. He sent His beloved John on a journey ahead in time to see that Tribulation. The character of that world is stated in Revelation as dark and sinful. The entire world is given over to materialism, drugs, murders and interestingly fornications.
This is the world that is coming. This is the world that is forming before our eyes, in the daily news and as we speak. It is a world totally given over to five clear areas of sin.
Revelation 9:20-21 But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. 21 And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.
Peter warned the early saints to flee and forsake the lust inducing activities that war against our souls. Listen to these pleas from the heart of the Apostle Peter to his beloved fellow believers:
1 Peter 1:14-15 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
1 Peter 2:11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,
Parents this is perhaps the most difficult of all the areas to pray about. Purity of heart is usually reflected by modesty of life. And modesty is most often reflected in our clothing. Praying for purity in our children involves their minds, and also involves their clothing. Are you praying for purity in your children? Pray for godliness in mind and body.
We saw last time that our position when we pray, the place or time or circumstance is not the issue of prayer. Prayer is to be for us a total way of life – an open communication with God which goes on all the time which unleashes the most powerful tool to raising, nurturing, and launching children that please the Lord is learning how to pray for our children.
WE MUST PRAY FOR REALITY IN THEIR SPIRITUAL LIFE:
1. SPIRITUAL REALITY MEANS SEEING THEM GENUINELY SAVED.

Here is a summary of my Revelation classes this summer and Prophetic Bible Conference where I update the Prophetic Trends Jesus talked about as I see them today.
Jesus tells us that Matthew 24 contains many specific events that would signal the end of days. He said life on planet earth as it has been for the past several thousand years would end. Each of the prophetic signs Christ and His apostles gave was specific and not vague.
Jesus explained that these events would begin at the same time, run concurrently, and crescendo like the pains of a woman giving birth, the closer we get to His second coming. The list of Biblical Signs of Christ’s Return will not actually be full-blown until the Tribulation time. Each of the signs of Christ’s Return He said – are trends.
These trends are speeding up, the last seconds of the countdown clock of Christ’s return are clicking down. Each day the prophetic picture Christ painted grows clearer. Each of these signs was captured by the apostles and prophets between 2,000 and 3,500 years ago. Now they are happening in our lifetime!
But, in all of history, ONLY our generation has seen EVERY ONE of these events starting to unfold. Strategic Planning to Face The Coming End of Days: 2 Corinthians 5:1-10
Each year we get to start a new fresh page.
This year that page is named 2023, and it contains 365 1/4 days, 8766 hours, 1/2 million minutes , and 31 1/2 million seconds.
But more than anything else, this new year is a new opportunity for each of us to invest as much of that time as we want to into the First Eternal Bank of Jesus Christ, located at the Throne of the Almighty Ancient of Days, at the source of the River of Life, in the center of the Crystal Sea, also commonly known as Heaven.
As we open to Revelation 4, we all need to hit the reset button of our souls. The scene we read here is REALITY. Sometimes when our computer, phone, or even heating/air conditioning system gets messed up, we hit the “reset” button and restore the “factory” settings to get it back to working correctly. So tonight we need to spiritually:
Hit the Reset Button
That is exactly what Revelation 4 is, a reset for our immortal and eternal souls. It is a migration of our spirits back to what God intended us for; and where we shall be eternally so we should point that way now. Here is my final session from teaching the Foundations of Biblical Prophecy lessons at Word of Life's Bible Conference.
We were so blessed, encouraged, and refreshed to meet so many of you who are part of our online classes. Praise God for all He is doing in so many lives.
Welcome to the climax of human history.
Jesus Returns as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, breaking into Earth’s atmosphere with billions of angels and millions of saints.
And what is humanity’s response? Like an Avenger movie, the whole world unites to come and fight off this alien intruder. The creator of mankind is the enemy to fight, to fallen, sinful earth dwellers.
Everything has been building to this point since the Fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden. Humanity is in rebellion against God. But finally, Satan possesses an extraordinary man called the “man of sin”; and empowers him to become the Jesus everyone wants, the false Messiah, the fake Jesus that gives to people what they really want—sin, rebellion, and darkness.
What happens when the whole world goes to war against God?
Armageddon, World War 3 is very short—Jesus speaks and all the rebels melt before Him.
The Lord Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords has returned—just like He said he would.

A Word-filled life is a life with habits of Scriptural responses.
First, Ezra shares in Psalm 119 a list of his Habits or SPIRITUAL RESPONSES he had cultivated toward the Lord. There are at least 10 of them.
1. He wanted the Lord. Psalm 119:10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
2. He wanted the Word. Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Have you ever had a treasure so precious, or a possession so fragile, or a favorite cereal, drink, cookie, etc. that you wanted so badly -- that you hid it away so that no one else could take it from you?)
3. He loved God’s ways. Psalm 119:14 I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.
4. He obeyed the Word. Psalm 119:22 Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.
5. He talked about God. Psalm 119:26 I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.
6. He followed the pathway of God. Psalm 119:30 I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me. (Did you know your pathway either gets clearer and better, or darker and harder -- ever day we follow that pathway? Proverbs 4:18-19 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. 19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble. )
7. He was stuck to the Word. Psalm 119:31 I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O LORD, put me not to shame.
8. He was excited about God! Psalm 119:35 Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight. (Do you know what one of my constant prayers is? That everyone who goes out on Saturday night and get fried by all the garbage in the movies would feel so miserable on the Lord’s Day that they would start figuring out that to watch things that so diametrically oppose God’s Way flattens your spiritual brain waves, deadens your spiritual appetite, and dampens your spiritual fervor. In other words – IT IS NOT WORTH IT!)
9. He feared disappointing God. Psalm 119:39 Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy judgments are good. A teen once demonstrated this heart attitude as his friends suggested that they go to a certain restaurant for a good time. “I’d rather go home, my parents don’t approve of that place.” “Afraid your father will hurt you?” one of the girls asked sarcastically. “No,” he replied, “I’m not afraid my father will hurt me, but I am afraid I might hurt him.” He understood the principle that a true child of God, who has experienced the love of God, has no desire to sin against that love.
10. He longed after the Lord. Psalm 119:40 Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.
