⸺ TIMESTAMPS ⸺ [1:00] Reflecting on the last few years & my attitude about the religion + Where my negativity came from (General anger at my life situation) [2:07] Garett and I are doing a Nikkah ceremony! And my family and I are mending our relationship with one another [5:00] I am now re-visiting and re-exploring Islam [5:30] I never actually made any videos criticizing Islam directly, I had always reflected that it was a cultural influence on the religion that seemed to be creating the issues in my Life [6:50] I’m excited to research Islam on my own, especially as I’ve spent the past few years exploring countless other religions and spiritual traditions. I’m excited to re-learn the religion on my own terms and my own timeline, from a clearer headspace, without the cultural undertones I grew up with. [7:20] I am excited to read the Quran and other related Source texts myself, in a way that I wasn’t able to when I was much younger. [8:26] The meaning of the word ‘Muslim’ (someone who submits to God) and why I believe I have actually always remained true to that identification [9:30] Having Faith in God & God’s plan vs. The limited power of our Ego’s plan [10:48] How I conceptualize God / Allah [13:00] A new project I am currently working on is a written substack publication exploring the role of the Feminine Principle in Islam. [14:12] From my perspective, so many Islamic teachings have been misunderstood and miscommunicated, especially when it comes to the the role of WOMEN. I desire to do my own research to understand the proper rulings and to also write about it in a substack newsletter in the near future.
