Creating my 30" x 40" acrylic painting was an exciting and innovative process. Using a sponge, I applied a variety of colors to the canvas, carefully considering how the hues and patterns would interact. Horizontally, the painting reveals a tranquil landscape, with gentle blending that mimics the rolling hills, serene skies, and distant mountains. The sponge technique allowed for a natural, almost ethereal or atmospheric quality, making the scenery appear soft and dreamlike. However, when the canvas is turned vertically, the same colors and textures transform into an abstract composition. The landscape elements become dynamic shapes and vibrant swirls, challenging the viewer's perception and inviting them to find new meanings within the abstraction. This duality makes the painting not only a versatile piece of art but also a conversation starter, as it embodies both the serenity of nature and the excitement of abstract expression.
I'd love to know if you like the horizontal version or the vertical. Leave me a comment!

To create a dreamy atmospheric cloudscape using a kitchen sponge, first, prepare your workspace by gathering your acrylic paints in various shades of your choice. You can use: white, gray, and blue or vary by adding a light blue and purple. Start with a dry sponge then begin by dipping the sponge into the lightest shade of white paint and one other color. Gently start by using swirling motions, creating the soft, billowy shapes of the clouds. Blend the edges of each cloud by lightly patting with the sponge to achieve a seamless transition between colors. Then, add depth and dimension to the clouds by layering darker shades of gray and blue, focusing on creating contrast and highlighting areas where light would naturally hit. Allow the layers to dry intermittently to prevent colors from blending too much. Continue layering and blending until you achieve the desired dreamy atmosphere. You can also start with the darker colors first if you prefer. They will all blend so it is up to you and your comfort level. Experiment with different sponge textures and paint densities to add variation and texture to your cloudscape. Once satisfied with the result, you can, if you wish, add more detailed work with a brush. Then let the artwork dry completely before varnishing and displaying your cloudscape so that you can enjoy the serene and dreamy essence of your sponge-painted clouds!

I love that even with a mini painting you can create beautiful abstract art! This fun and easy swipe technique for beginners will give you a beautiful abstract mini painting. Now, you don't have to keep it mini....try it on a larger scale on canvas, and you'll get the same results.
This abstract acrylic fluid pour painting is a fun and easy way to start painting. The swipe technique is easy enough for beginners and you'll get fabulous results.
I show you the colors I used as well as the ratio of paint to pouring medium.
Try it out and let me know what your results are, but the most important thing is to have fun doing it! Enjoy the process!
By the way, I have shown you the colors I like, but you can tweak this combo and add a color you prefer.
It's fun to see what happens...abstract art is like that...especially because it's a fluid pour painting.

As an artist I love to create something unique and for me it all starts off with a fluid pour! Yes, it's a fluid pour painting that I then embellish (enhance) to bring out the details. I add colour and use various techniques and a regular fluid pour turns into something entirely different.
I hope I can inspire you to try this out too.

Staying focused and achieving your goals as an acrylic fluid artist requires dedication, discipline, and a clear vision. As a fluid artist, you have the unique challenge of working with a dynamic and unpredictable medium. Here are some strategies to help you stay focused and make progress towards your artistic goals:
1. Define your artistic vision: Take the time to reflect on what you want to achieve as an acrylic fluid artist. Consider your preferred style, color palette, and the emotions you want your artwork to evoke. Having a clear artistic vision will guide your work and help you stay focused on creating a cohesive body of art.
2. Set specific and achievable goals: Break down your larger artistic vision into smaller, attainable goals. These could include mastering a particular technique, experimenting with new color combinations, or completing a certain number of artworks within a specific timeframe. Setting concrete goals will give you a sense of direction and progress.
3. Create a schedule: Establish a regular painting schedule and allocate dedicated time to work on your art. Consistency is key to improving your skills and completing projects. Whether you paint daily, weekly, or on specific days of the month, having a routine will keep you focused and motivated.
4. Minimize distractions: Find a quiet and organized space to paint, free from distractions. Turn off your phone or put it on silent mode, so you're not interrupted by notifications. Consider using apps or website blockers to limit time spent on social media or other non-essential activities while you work.
5. Experiment and learn: Embrace experimentation in your art. Allow yourself to make mistakes and learn from them. Attend workshops, watch tutorials, and read books about acrylic fluid art to continuously expand your knowledge and refine your techniques.
Remember that staying focused and achieving your goals as an acrylic fluid artist is a journey. Be patient with yourself, be persistent in your efforts, and most importantly, enjoy the creative process along the way.
