This is a video that I quickly put together after work based on a commenter's questions about using 1uF capacitors and other value resistors to build an astable multivibrator circuit instead of the 100uF capacitors that I used with 10KΩ timing resistors in the video. Since the commenter asked to use a capacitor with 1/100th of the capacitance I used (1uF instead of 100uF), I felt safe in saying that increasing the timing resistors by 100 times (1 million ohms instead of 10 thousand ohms) will balance out the timing of the flashing to about the same amount of time. Of course, the more complex a circuit, the more variables that affect the circuit, which can easily be overlooked, so I wanted to build the circuit and test it for myself.
In a circuit using different values components and a 5V poser supply, instead of the about 9V I used in this video, I was able to switch out the LED protective resistor without influencing the speed of the LED flashing, only the brightness. Unfortunately in this circuit and video, changing the value of the LED protection resistor changed the LED flashing speed but otherwise the circuit worked just fine.
The video I linked above is actually a video I made a long time ago, but the lighting could definitely be improved so I let YouTube make improvements to the lighting, and reuploaded it to let new subscribers know that the video exists.
