Breaking a sub 2 19 marathon will be one of the most challenging tasks you will ever face in athletics. The closest I got to it was 2:19:35 or 5:19 per mile or 3:18 per kilometer. You will need to hold 5:18 mile and 3:17 kilometer pace in order to run a 2 hour 19 minute marathon.

There are resources listed below that will help speed up this process. That being said, the athlete must have high emphasis on speed development. In addition, massive time spent well below sub 2:19 marathon pace in order to get race pace to feel moderate.

Pace sustainment is the biggest challenge for runners seeking a time like this. It is already difficult enough to run a sub 2 20 marathon, 2 30 marathon or even a sub 3 hour marathon.
