This mini adventure see's me getting lost in a field, spending to much time staring at a tree and practising my small talk to a flock of sheep, who in fact provided an endless source of entertainment and distracting aroma, I digress -
Join me on my 4th V log to date as I try using a DSLR to record the video rather than my trusty Pixel XL 2
After several weeks of blistering summer heat, clears skies and little in the way of opportunities for photography in general, I was determined to capture the sunset behind this famous and historic landmark often seen in the landscape by those driving north bound on the M5 Junction 8 to 7 - - I present shaky handheld and in your face footage for all to enjoy :)
The Grade 1 listed Panorama Tower was designed by James Wyatt in 1801 and was based on an earlier design by Robert Adam for a similar building in 1760s.
The building is made of Bath stone and was modelled on Tempietto Romano in Rome, which was designed by Donato Bramante.

I just wanted to thank my subscribers for your patience. I have been struggling a little with mobility issues since my last video and getting out with the camera has been harder than I had expected. Thankfully I had a chance to do so this weekend just gone, in the hopes to make use of the surprise and fleeting snow and ice we had in the UK
On this sunrise landscape photography shoot Initially I had planned only to do photography, however, feeling inspired and somewhat more energy than I anticipated, I managed to get some video work done and a few sequences that I hoped would be enough for a video. Thankfully it was.
This video see me traveling overnight from my home in Worcestershire out to the wilds of Shropshire on the Welsh border at Clun Castle. The plan was to capture sunrise and some mist rising up and around the castle ruins as that was forecast, however these things seldom go to plan, and when we arrived we were greeted by a thick layer of snow and a very sublime blue hour.
I was a I was a little disappointed by limited compositions on the ground so I took to the air with my Air2s Drone, to do some aerial landscape photography this presented a whole new world of imagery to be captured.

I have not long been back from a fabulous week-long landscape photography trip to the Isle of Skye in Scotland with a group of photographer friends I have made on flickr. The six of us had a full week on Skye to enjoy some of the well known photographic locations and some less well known locations. On day 1 in Skye our fist location was to The Quiraing for a morning shoot.
The Quiraing an essential subject on the Isle of Skye for any photographer as it passes through some of the most spectacular landscapes isle and some argue in the entirety of Scotland. The Quiraing is part of the Trotternish ridge and was formed by a massive landslip which has created high cliffs, hidden plateaus and pinnacles of rock If the conditions are right, this landscape provides ample opportunities for varied landscape photographs.
On our visit the weather conditions didnt quite work out as I had expected, As this being a repeat visit from 2020 I was hopeful for more atlantic storms to roll in over the UK, alas they did but but much further south leaving only remnants of unsettled weather to photograph during our weeks photography adventure.
We also met up with some local flickr contacts and benefited from their local knowledge, which I hope will be evident in future videos I will upload from this adventure.
If you are still reading, well I wish I could give you a badge or something to show my appreciation, thank you!

Join me as I search for Bluebells to photograph at Tiddesley Wood nr Pershore in Worcestershire, UK. On this adventure I share tips on polorisers and composition considerations when trying to photograph Britain's favourite wild flowers.
The bluebell is one of the ‘indicator species‘ of ancient woodland, meaning woods that have been in existence since at least 1600; the Woodland Trust considers that some bluebells may even mark remnants of the original wild wood that covered Britain after the last Ice Age.
Filmed entirely on a Google Pixel 2 XL this is my second vlog to date and I hope you enjoy. Lots of things to learn, and I hope my video production will continue to improve.

Join me on an photography journey from Worcestershire to Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset as I capture the breathtaking beauty of the Burnham-on-Sea low lighthouse. In this adventure I photograph the stunning coastal landscape during the magical moments of the blue hour, sunrise, and high tide, aiming to produce a collection of images that represent the change of the light and the photographic conditions and using techniques such as focus stacking and long exposure photography
Armed with my trusty Pentax K1 camera, I immerse myself in the serenity of the blue hour, where the sky is painted with hues of indigo and violet, creating a mesmerizing backdrop for my photography.
As the sun begins to peek over the horizon, I eagerly anticipate the golden hour, seizing the opportunity to capture Burnham-on-Sea low lighthouse in the soft morning light. Capturing the essence of this picturesque scene, focusing on the interplay of light and shadow to create stunning compositions and photography.
But the adventure doesn't end there. As high tide approaches, I eagerly await the dramatic transformation of the landscape. With the sea swelling around the legs of Burnham-on-Sea low lighthouse, I experiment with long exposure techniques, aiming to capture the high tide of the ocean in striking black and white monochromatic fine art photos.

My first time photographing a storm at the coast, huge waves breaking over Porthcawl Lighthouse as storm Ciara hits the west coast of the United Kingdom. Conditions were difficult, 70-80mph winds, sea spray, and poor light made capturing still images not alone video, incredibly challenging.
I had hoped to make this into a much informative video and somewhat more substantial in length, but timing for high/low tide meant that time was against me in capturing the big waves hitting the lighthouse. The conditions made changing lenses foolish and saltwater hung heavy in the blustery wind
On reflection photographing in the afternoon would have led to better lighting and also an increasing tide height would have made for more dramatic footage and images.
The worst effects from storm Ciara were felt in Ireland and the United Kingdom, where the storm arrived over the weekend of 8–9 February, bringing high winds and heavy rainfall that caused severe damage, widespread flooding and three fatalities in the latter country.
As storm Ciara moved across northern Europe with an unusually large wind field, eight further fatalities were recorded in a wide range of countries in mainland Europe, including as far away as Slovenia.
I would have liked to have revisited this weekend in order to video and capture storm Denis as it now takes its turn to batter Porthcawl Lighthouse alas, a trip to Skye this week coming means that I'm unable to do so, however from what I have learnt photographing storm Ciara I think should similar conditions present themselves in Skye I shall endeavour to get some vlog footage for you all.

Astrophotography & Landscape Photography Rhossili Bay
Join me on a little photography adventure as I shoot some Milky Way & Galactic core astrophotography and landscape photography at Rhossili Bay Nr Swansea in Wales
Leaving Worcester at 22:00 destined for Rhossili Bay In Wales 3 hours later, planned arrival time 01:00 the idea was to shoot the Milkyway and the Galatic core and photograph through to sunrise and breakfast
This was my second all nighter in 7 days without sleep so was feeling particularly tied. I must appologies, I was also suffering from hayfever, never a good combination for recording video.
I hope you enjoy as I stumble on my words and sniffle my way through explaining my location, various compositions and provide my viewers such joys as focus stacking and blending images.

A semi-natural ancient woodland, this is the source of the Pershore Plum
This large woodland was once an enclosed deer park and was previously owned by the Abbots of Pershore Abbey and local nobility as well as the Forestry Commission. The Forestry Commission managed much of the wood as a commercial forestry plantation in the 1950s. The Trust bought the wood because of its outstanding importance as an ancient woodland with the ultimate aim of restoring it to its former condition.

In the short video I visit Croome Court in Worcestershire, UK and get some images as the mid morning sun breaks through the clouds and spills on to the wider landscape of the croome estate whilst illuminating Croome House and the Rotunda against a backdrop of blue and grey clouds. This is also a tale of caution of wanting for more and getting more than you wished for as the clouds thickened and the landscape was plunged into darkness and rain, whilst producing my favorite image from the days photography.
If you like my content please give it a thumbs up and comment, do you like the final dark image as much as me? or is one of the lighter ones your favorite?
As a general update: Hello all and Happy New Year, to all my friends, subscribers, and those people who leave comments on my little corner of Youtube. Despite the struggles of the world I know many of you have managed to still get out and produce some outstanding photography and perhaps in locations and scenes closer to home than you perhaps originally planned :) I thank you for your sharing your photography and videos and I hope you will continue to do so in 2022.
Photography for me has been difficult in 2021. From riding the wave of creativity and ideas of 2020 in to 2021 quickly saw me burnout and crash with the worlds uncertainty. Frustrated with the lack of personal motivation, inspiration and energy, my photography and video output has taken a bit of a dive!
As such I have struggled greatly in trying to keep the photographic flame burning. I think this reflected no more so in the limited number of images I have posted in 2021 and even less videos :( I'm quite sure im not alone in feeling this way too.
Alas it's now the start of 2022, Thank you one all, for the continued support you have shown me throughout 2021! As such I forced myself out of the house armed with a single Vintage SMC Pentax 135mm Prime lens with the hopes of embracing the new year and kick starting my photography and videography mojo I hope you enjoy the ramble and results.
Until the next video, take care all
Geoff.
