HUGE ANTIQUE & VINTAGE MARKET | NEIGHBORS & I SHOW OUR STUFF
Rarely is there time to videotape my booth at a vintage meet, but the recent Sparks, Kansas Antique & Collectible Show offers four days of shopping fun, giving me time to record down my row of vendors! This mix of mostly antiques and vintage shows what I bring to an indoor-outdoor show near St. Joseph and Kansas City, with actual selling prices and a view of cool stuff from my immediate neighbors.
I’ve never been to Sparks before this, and I get to share my wares much more extensively than usual. I’ll talk about items I have, why they’re collectible and what people are buying. Costume jewelry to kitchen, cameras and some controversial stuff that requires mutual understanding to heal are all on the docket. I also talk about strategies for setting up for a show booth to boost sales.
Then I have fun with the neighbors and make some purchases that immediately resell! The ‘turn and burn’ is a fun way for dealers to all make profit, helping an item find its way to the ultimate collector. A 1930s bar set and a ’57 T-Bird promo car come and go fast, and I in turn pass Blenko bargains on to another dealer.
Neighbors with original metal art, farm finds and furniture, a ton of interesting smalls, movie posters and beer signs…there’s a lot right near me. A highlight is watching a box turn into a seed table, a perfect base for a collapsable bar or kitchen sorter! I show off my haul from the spaces around me, and dream of the shopping spree I plan to take before and after I open tomorrow…

THRIFT AND RESALE SHOPPING I CONSIGNMENT WORLD VENDOR MALL
Thrifting and antique shopping under one roof? Consignment stores are a well-kept secret that thrifters often miss (thinking they’re not cheap) and antiquers often eschew (thinking they won’t have old things), but savvy shoppers know they proffer finds for many collections and resellers on a budget.
Today I discover Consignment World and Antiques in Cadiz, Kentucky, an interesting combination of dealer spaces with new, vintage and antique items, plus selected wares from several dozen consignment sellers. This place is new to me, but proves to have a wide array of items and a few interesting buys!
An auspicious start is a G.E. refrigerator pitcher, made by a well-known American ceramics firm and priced about 1/3 of retail. From there we discover much more vintage glass, ceramics and dinnerware, much of it bargain priced; a delicious donut phone; a big Coke bottle collection from some little places; and a Treasure Craft mushroom set that shows me that writing my reference book pushed up prices over the years.
TV nostalgia items, a brilliant blue stove and copper sculptures help us remember ‘the way we were’. From galvanized tin to cigarette sets for 12, this store is much larger and has more variety than I bargained for when I came.

Big scores (twice what we expected on the Star Wars lunchbox) and a few misses (the lot of toys that should've sold separately) help us all learn more about what to sell on eBay, how and when.

An 1890s railroad town in the middle of a savannah is the perfect setting for both antiquing and thrift store fun! Arcadia, Florida is my stopping point when I travel to and from the West Palm Beach antique show, a long bypassed and forgotten town now finding new life thanks to a bevy of antique and thrift shops that have sprung up here.
My m.o. is to hit a few antique stores for nice pieces to take to the show, then hit a thrift store on the way back when the van is emptier to restock with bargains. We do both in this episode, discovering whether you can find vintage deals in thrift stores when the antique dealers are just down the block...and whether those same dealers might offer us a few bargains on their finds.
The answer in this case is happily, yes to both! Though Hurricane Ian blew through just months ago, many of the antique shops are back in full force, and the town's variety of Victorian to 1920s houses are starting to renovate as well. Meanwhile, the Goodwill store is teeming with fresh stock, and this one has enough local interest from vintage hunters that they haven't sent all the good stuff away!
We get a nice taste of a few shops, meet a really fun shop owner with a taste for MCM glass, and mark our calendars to come back for one of Arcadia's monthly antique shows in the future.

I admit, I've been holding out on my viewers! There's a second chamber hiding at the back of Andrea & Friends Antique Mall, and I've been waiting for a special occasion to show you a giant costume jewelry wall, Lladros, a crazy cool wall clock, Chinese artifacts, compacts/purses/boudoir...and even a third little room where the bargains lurk!
Nothing's more fun than antiquing with friends, and we have a special pair of twins visiting St. Petersburg, Florida, whose love of baubles, ethnic items and depression glass show in their Etsy shop and YouTube channel, Fashionista at 80. These gals are having fun and living life with style, proving you're never too old to collect, and we have a great time seeing things that trigger happy memories...Skookum dolls, a 1920s celluloid picture of twins, Navajo and Mexican jewelry and Cambridge Crown Tuscan catch our eye.
Andrea herself appears to show us real treats of real fine jewelry...an amazing golden Victorian dome with amethysts, an amazing custom ruby/pearl necklace, gold cameos and hair jewelry, and a scarcely seen pair of 18k gold Victorian matched wedding bracelets make this video a special occasion we all get to enjoy! After a brief look through my newly restocked space, we wrap up with a fun conversation about vintage fashion, and a plan to meet again somewhere else in the country where antiques and vintage of quality come together.

SURPRISE SHOPPING FINDS | FLEA MARKET VINTAGE | ANTIQUE RESELLER
It's a fun day in the big city when we go to our interview at the TV studio!
Talking about our appraisal fair is a great prelude to a drive through town to a reopened flea market, refreshed with new dealers in old vintage!

We look for the bargains among the variety of antique items in this true southern flea market! Tucked between usable furniture and salvaged food items are everything from a Jaru tile plaque to antique shipping crates! We talk about prices on many things we encounter, particularly the vintage deals we send to the front counter to pay.
Stay tuned to see the best find of the day...and it wasn't I who found it! Resist the Chess pie if you can, while we make the rounds through this large and varied store that seems to be well into its renaissance. We'll definitely make this flea market a regular haunt on our shopping trips through here!

THE "I LOVE THRIFTING" CHALLENGE I $5 & $10 SALE EVENT

We took the challenge! Fellow YouTuber “My Blessed Nest” posted a challenge to talk about how we got started thrifting and why we love it, which are good stories in themselves. I’ll start by telling about my earliest thrifting memories, a few family thrifting stories and cool finds.

The #ILoveThriftingCollab2020 challenge also asked where we thrift now, and that inspired me to share a recent thrifting “challenge” of my own, one where you can participate!
Since I mostly buy from auctions, estate sales and private clients, I hadn’t been thrifting for awhile…my rural Kentucky location is an hour’s drive to the few thrift stores in the region. My cameraman challenged me to go to each thrift store, and buy a minimum of one vintage item in each that could resell for profit. Easy, right?
Not so much! From Hopkinsville to Paducah to Owensboro, the few true thrift stores (as opposed to antique and vendor malls) don’t get a lot of cool vintage. But with great patience and careful picking, we found 2 dozen items (mostly 1970s decor and housewares) we felt could resell.
So let’s test that theory! You’re invited to watch (live or pre-recorded) while we put the bounty up for sale, each item or lot will be $5 or $10 plus shipping. (Like the old five-and-dime stores, except in dollars.)
I love to give background about the things I buy, so regular viewers will get to know more about the pieces and their makers. Hull and Haeger Pottery, Fire-King and lusterware, Homco/Syroco plaques, Cabbage Patch Kids and California Raisins all came from interesting places, and we’ll talk about how they came to be!

A rainout at the huge Mount Dora, Florida antique show leaves me a day to kill with shopping fun! Kat @The Nurse Flipper and her family meet me at the Renninger's flea market, up the hill from where I've abandoned my show display to go shop with them...and you get to join us!
This is a true farmer's and flea market, with new and old goods, vintage and antiques spread between permanent displays, fly-by-night outdoor vendors and a large garden and livestock section. We look high and low for the vintage things we think we can afford to buy for resale, with a lot of fun and interesting stories and tips that come out along the way!
From mob connections to early eBay forays, we share a lot of great stories and useful tips in this different kind of shop-with-me video. Sharing the finds with another YouTuber adds to the fun, as good buys on original art, Jaru and McCoy metal-tone pottery and a fantastic Danish bar worth bringing back a truck for grab our attention! We find everything to buy, from costume jewelry to piggy banks to...well...an actual piglet! Can we resist?

I've always wanted to see this place! We start Black Friday shopping at "Shearwater Pottery," a famously collectible old-time art pottery hand made on a Mississippi Bayou that barely survived Hurricane Katrina. We marvel at their Museum, ogle patterns based on elaborate French cave drawings and Egyptological designs, and buy a few of our favorites at this rare survivor from the heyday of American pottery!
Then it's on to flea market shopping in a rural location that we've never seen before! I've had some great finds in Southern flea markets, so we enter "Penny's Flea Market & Antiques" with high hopes of finding a bargain. But do we? At first, it seems that reproductions and hard-to-sell furniture (china cabinets fill entire spaces) are what we find, and with only 20 minutes until closing, the heat is on!
But with our keen senses, we ferret out more antique and vintage as we get deeper into the store. Ruby Burple glass, some cute Majolica figures and a cool Mexican MCM bird catch our eye, and a Pigeon Forge pitcher is too cheap to pass up...but it's a giant and random collection of bells that looks to hold possibilities! They're all priced identically, but they're far from the same...we root through them all to find three that will glow under a black light (and one of them is a real surprise).
Merry tinkling ensues as we go to the counter and see the other wing of this market, which we'll have to catch on a weekend when the outdoor vendors are open too! We depart under a beautiful sunset with our Black Friday finds, and hit the open road once more.
