Преступление и наказание (1970) | English Subtitles
Преступление и наказание (Crime and Punishment)
Raskolnikov, an impoverished ex-law student, kills an old pawnbroker and her sister, perhaps for money, perhaps to prove a theory about being above the law. He comes to police attention through normal procedures (he was the victim's client), but his outbursts make him the prime suspect of the clever Porfiry. Meanwhile, life swirls around Raskolnikov: his mother and sister come to the city followed by two older men seeking his sister's hand; he meets a drunken clerk who is then killed in a traffic accident, and he falls in love with the man's daughter, Sonia, a young prostitute. She urges him to confess, promising to follow him to Siberia. Will he accept responsibility?
The film is based on the novel of the same name by Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky.

Friesennot: Ein deutsches Schicksal auf russischer Erde (Frisian Distress: A German‘s Fate on Russian Soil)
The film has also been known as Dorf im roten Sturm (Village in the Red Storm)
Down by the Volga, Germans live in a closed settlement, their ancestors having emigrated there centuries ago to look for a new home amidst vast steppes and forests. They are Frisians; people with hard skulls and good-natured hearts, indomitable in will and tough in perseverance. They obeyed the dictates of the authorities and remained willing subjects when the Tsar called them to war, and when the Bolsheviks took over the reigns of Russia. But one thing they have retained in foreign lands: the inner law of their actions has remained the old one they called their own.
Red Guards come to the village. A people with all the good and bad qualities of the Slavic peoples. Immoderate in everything they do, intoxicating themselves with joy, cunning and deviousness. Their leader, the inspector, is a White Russian by descent; a man who fanatically represents the will of the communist rulers, who makes the peasants lives as hard as possible. He relentlessly collects taxes and duties, sparing none of these Frisians who are alien to him.
The film is essentially based on the situation of the Russian-German Mennonites. This group, originally from Friesland, distinguished itself in its colonies on Russian soil by its consistent non-violence and unconditional pacifism. For more information, I would recommend the story of Ingrid A. Rimland, the wife of Ernst Zündel.
L'assassin habite au 21 (The Murderer Lives at 21)
Several crimes, signed by a mysterious Mr. Durand, are committed in Montmartre. Thanks to an informant, Inspector Wenceslas Vorobeïtchik discovers that the murderer lives in a boarding house at a boarding house at 21 Avenue Junot, and he moves in, disguised as a minister. The detective will have to show his perspicacity when confronted with the residents of 21, who are in turn accused and then exonerated.
The film is adapted from the detective novel of the same name by Stanislas-André Steeman, published in 1939.

Urlaub auf Ehrenwort (Leave on my Word of Honor)
Germany, Autumn 1918. The First World War is about to end, but all German forces are still being mobilized. The young, inexperienced Lieutenant Prätorius has the difficult task of leading a replacement regiment to Brandenburg. The men's morale is low as they have been denied their usual home leave this time. When the transport reaches Berlin, the soldiers mood improves. Almost all of them are from Berlin and hope to spend a few free hours in their home town. Prätorius ignores the warnings of his superiors and gives his men a few hours off. They spend them in very different milieus, all resisting the temptation to desert.
The film is based on the short story of the same name by Walter Julius Bloem.

Léon Degrelle - Autoportrait d'un fasciste (Self-portrait of a fascist)
Part 1 - LÉON DEGRELLE : CHEF DE "REX"
Part 2 - LE "VOLKSFÜHRER" LÉON DEGRELLE
A documentary made for FR3 in 1978 by Jean-Michel Charlier, in the series "LES DOSSIERS NOIRS" (The Obscure Records).
Léon Degrelle was born on 15 June 1906 in Bouillon (Belgium) and died on the 31st of March 1994 in Malaga (Spain). He was a journalist, writer, and press director involved in the Belgian Catholic movement. He then began a political career, founding the Rex movement. Initially it was a nationalist party close to Catholic circles, and quickly became a fascist party. During the Second World War, the party came closer to National Socialism, and ended up collaborating with the German occupier. Fighting on the Eastern Front with the 28th SS Walloon Division, Degrelle by the end of the war, was an SS-Sturmbannführer and Volksführer der Wallonen. Exiled to Spain in 1945 and naturalized in 1954, he lived there for almost fifty years.
"What revolted me was the social injustice. If I hadn't had this cloak of Christianity that kept us apart, I would have been much more willingly socialist... For me, politics is about making people happy, not about building clever constructions. And it's obvious that people were unhappy and that socialism was necessary: it was necessary to blow up the poisonous house of capitalism! Well, from that time on, there were two things that fascinated me: the great ordered construction of the State. The principles of authority, responsibility and duration, which are the basis of Rexism. And the social passion."
