Heavy Radicals: Fred Hampton, COINTELPRO and the Security State (ft. Aaron Leonard)
Aaron Leonard is the author of the Zero Books title "Heavy Radicals" and the historian who recently released newly acquired documents on the subject of the FBI's involvement in the assassination of the Black Panther Party leader Fred Hampton in 1969. In this interview, Aaron will discuss the new security state, the significance of COINTELPRO for socialists today, and the truth about both domestic and foreign intelligence agencies' involvement in radical grassroots organizing.
The modern world is at an impasse. Disasters scroll across our smartphone screens and we’re invited to like, follow or upvote, but critical thinking is harder and harder to find. Rather than connecting us in common struggle and debate, the internet has sped up and deepened a long-standing process of alienation and atomization.
Zero Books author Matthew McManus (What is Postmodern Conservatism and Myth & Mayhem: – A Leftist Critique of Jordan Peterson) will debate the self-described anarchist Stefan Molyneux at 8pm EST on Friday, February 28th. The topic for debate is "The Nature of Freedom."
Stefan Molyneux was challenged to a debate by Zero Books author Ben Burgis in March of last year but refused the offer and blocked Burgis. He issued a challenge to McManus because he was unhappy with how he'd been depicted in McManus' latest essay "Rise of the Right-Wing Outrage Machine."
McManus described Molyneux this way: "Far-right commentator Stefan Molyneux—when he is not preposterously claiming to be the 'most influential modern philosopher'—spends his days pondering the great questions of cancel culture and “why liberals hate free speech.”

This video implores you not to leave the left, despite all its failings. We'll be listening to some clips from a podcast by Aimee Therese, turning to Leszek Kolakowski’s 1968 essay “The Cconcept of the Left”, and taking some excerpts from Ben Burgis’ upcoming book “Canceling Comedians While the World Burns” in order to clarify just what the left is and why the reconception or redevelopment of an international left is still important today.

This video is in response to both the EDA's book "Why are Animals Funny" and Eugene Thacker's "Tentacles Longer than Night."
The move towards the animal, the desire for the attainment of animal consciousness, is a move away from the depths of our responsibility as humans. It is not a way to escape from meaning, but is instead a move to naturalize and so obscure our view of the meanings and structures we produce and reproduce every day.

In this Livestream Derick Varn and Douglas Lain discuss the idea of the Dictatorship of the Proletariat in the works of Marx, Lenin and beyond. Why did Marx call it a dictatorship? Why should the proletariat? Why would this dictatorship "wither away"? How did really existing socialist movements understand the idea of the dictatorship of the proletariat and does the idea have any meaning for the left today?
