I've fallen in love with Indeed.Com. Once I learn how to post a job on Indeed, and use some of their amazing tools, it was game over for me. I was very reluctant to use Indeed.Com before because I didn't have any luck with them. The secret is that you have to sponsor your job postings. But the things is you can determine how much you want to pay daily for that. So it can fit any budget. I suggest you use Indeed.com and play around with some of their tools, especially their schedule tool. Contract is a document that basically closes the job. It basically says that the customer (shipper) agrees to hire you (carrier) do XYZ moving services. IT explains if the move is bonding, non-binding, or hourly. It may contain your terms and conditions, but not all contracts do. Proposal letter is also called the estimate. It is a document that lays out what you are proposing to do for the customer including packing and storage services if needed and requested. It summarizes the cost for the move including insurance, mileage, packing, fuel charge, additional charges like heavy items or extra stops, and so on. A template for every move scenario. Have them on your computer so all you have to do is plug in the info and numbers and your good to go. Terms and conditions is a signed document that lists out what you can and cannot do, and things you won’t do. It should also give good advice for the shipper in various things like packing, etc. It should also tell the shipper what to expect before, during and after the move. It should explain how you will do the move and what additional costs may be added. It should also state what will happen if they don’t pay in part or in full. It should also give them the info they need to make a damage or loss claim. Waivers are documents that absolve you from potential liability. You’re going to want waivers to protect you. Some common waivers that you’ll want are: • Driving on the lawn. • Unhooking gas, electric or water lines. • Unpacked TVs, art, or other high-value items. Credit card authorization form is a must. If you don’t take credit cards you are going want to start now. You’re leaving a lot of money on the table by not accepting credit cards. Bill of lading aka BOL is arguably the most important document that you need. Your BOL gives the address your moving from and to. Gives the shipper name, email, and phone. It details how many hours you were on the job (if you’re doing hourly) or what the flat rate is. It lists out the number of boxes and materials that you used and are charging. It lists any additional charges if there are any. A BOL is essentially your receipt of services. Inventory Sheets are vital for your bigger longer distance moves. If you’re doing a long-distance move, putting stuff into storage, or you have multiple loads on a truck you’re going to want an inventory sheet. an inventory sheet is often accompanied by was it called colloquially as a “bingo” sheet. Bingo sheets are a grid with a bunch of numbers that correspond to the numbered item on the inventory. Inventory sheets are good because you can also list any damages that you notice on the item before it is wrapped and loaded. I finally ended up a Black Lives Matter rally at the capitol building. About 100 people showed up, which isn't bad when you consider they only organized this rally in 24 hours. There are two time systems that run in your business. There is the Entrepreneur time system, and the Employee time system. The employee time system is simple. They clock in, do their work and nothing more, then clock out. Period. End of day. They have NO responsibility other than to do a good enough job to keep their job. They don’t do extra work, they don’t stay late or come in early. They do 35 to 40 hours and that’s it. …Oh, and they feel they are entitled to everything the boss has or the owner. The Entrepreneur time system is different. They don’t have a clock. They operate in products produced. Projects completed. How many hours that takes is irrelevant. They are goal driven. They chase the dream. They follow a time clock. They don’t think about 9 to 5. They don’t think in 7 days. They think the next big thing. However, many business owners are still stuck in the employee time system. They think like an employee. Act like an employee. They might as well be employees. They’ve fallen into this BS Work-Life Balance bullshit. You make bale hay when the sun is out. Imagine working on a farm and only doing the farm work 9 to 5 Mon-Friday only. Ha. That’s a joke. If you want to prevent a lot of hassle for you and your customers then you need to have and use contract agreements. I'm telling you. Have something in writing, no matter how basic or simple, will save you hours of time and 1000's of dollars. In an earlier video https://youtu.be/8wnoZV7WtFs I explain how I totally mishandled a customer that owed me money. I could've handled it by just having a, in my case a Bill of Lading, or a contract agreement. They are so simple to get and use. And ink is really cheap.
