Ya'll know it's always something on the homestead!
I can't turn my back on that wheelbarrow for a second!
Life on the homestead can be very challenging and goodness knows there are not so good days and then there are baby goats.
Watching them grow and thrive is fun and rewarding. We put a lot of love and care into them.
I hope you enjoy this little moment of joy from our homestead to yours!
Thanks so much for stopping by the homestead!

This video is from a few days ago. Its sleeting again now as I'm trying to download this clip. It's been a very rough week for us. But so far we are making it. Been really hard on the animals we are working hard to take care of them all day every day! Snowed/iced in since Saturday. That's 4 days at this point.
Really needing it to break.
Stay tuned......

Going into fall of 2017 one of my Beautiful Light Bramha hens went broody. I collected the eggs daily. I really didn't want any chicks going into fall and really didn't want to chance a batch of little Roos. Every day I picked her up and set her off the nest and collected the eggs. This went on for a month. She would go sit on the EMPTY nest. Well, our local farm store got in a late batch of chicks. I heard about it from my neighbor so I drove down to see what they had...please have some pullets. I am NOT buying straight run chicks you crazy hen! Well they had one batch of pullets California White....Ok whatever that is I'll take two. Sorry but the minimun is six. Humm OK give me 6.
That night we slipped out to the coup and put a towel over her eyes and slipped the little buggers under her and I prayed this would get this hen off the nest!
Some of the pics in that video are the next morning. They grew into some pretty little hens. And when they started laying they have never missed a day.....
until this summer 2018 when one of them WENT BROODY but that's a different video...lol

Many of the seeds for the medicinal garden will be spread in late spring or early summer. These seeds require a cold period so they will actually be planted this fall FOR next summer. So I misspoke in the video but hopefully you understood my meaning. I am always in to big of a hurry due to my time restriction.
Thank you so much for watching and coming a long on this journey with us!!
