Regearing for the R2 8 Cummins Part 8 and DIY Aligning
Dare I say, 1 axle is done? I think so mostly...We are also doing a DIY alignment.
It's finally time to install the correct gear ratio for my Jeep with the R2.8 Cummins. Testing different tire sizes suggested 3.73s would compliment 33s very well with the R2.8 Cummins. Selectable lockers, upgrading worn steering and suspension components were naturally warranted as well. I started with the front Dana 30 and here's the start to a LONG journey to improve the drivability of my TJ. This is my first time setting up gears, so bear with me as I figure out my process of getting the correct backlash, bearing pre-load, gear pattern, etc.
Btw this has been edited in hindsight, so you may think I know what I'm doing and you will also miss countless hours of wasting time, experimenting with rules of thumb.

Shocks Rancho: XL9000
Ball Joints: Spicer 706944X Socket Assembly (2 sets)

Upper Control Arm Bushings: Moog K3128 (2 sets)
Cam Bolts: Moog K100047 kit (2 ea)
Brake Pads: Black Magic F-BMBP 477
Brake Rotors: Centric 120.67022 Premium Brake (2 ea)
Axle Rebuild Kit: ARB/Revolution K35-2031 1 set (carrier bearings came with locker)

Finally solved the overheating issue, just to run into a seemingly continual stream of more issues. Simple fix after a not so simple quest to find and resolve the issue, but it's great having a tractor that doesn't overheat if I can keep the radiator clean.
