This is the strategy I came up with after my 24s run got beat by 4shockblast's impressive 23s run. After studying his run I realized I couldn't save another second with the strategy that waited for the lift, which was the longest part. So I looked for other angles to try and beat the map and realized the stairs on the left side give you about the same height as the platforms. Finding an angle where the rockets could "thread the needle" of the Icon of Sin's opening was not easy, I ended up using a margin of 4 pixels in between the boxes of rockets on the left side of the screen for setup. Then, within that tiny range, the left-most position brings the rockets closer to the Romero head on the diagonal wall they're hitting (although projectile-movement clipping also plays a role here). At first I found that the left-most position allowed me to kill the Icon of Sin in as few as 13 rockets. So I used Nightmare difficulty for the double ammo, so the rockets at the starting room are enough. I quickly found that sub 20 was possible with a 13-rocket kill, but sub-19 was not, not even with perfect movement. After a 2nd stream and a nearly-4-hour grind of 500+ attempts I could not get the 19s run. Even though at the end of the stream Twitch chat gave me several ideas on how to improve my consistency and speed, I was too tired to keep going, and I decided to leave the 19s run for another stream. However, before the day was over, another member of the doom speedrunning community seized the opportunity and got a 19s run in a couple of minutes. Knowing that 18 (non-TAS) is not possible; I guess this is where my grind for map 30 ends...
