As many of you know we raise rabbits as a way to provide a sustainable meat source on our homestead. Although we graze them on grass during the main season, during the winter this isn't really an option. So what we did was construct a rabbit run on the back end of our barn with a burrow so that they can dip into the barn if they need to escape from predators or inclement weather.
This was a family project and it was a lot of fun putting it all together! There are still some improvements we can make, but overall the system seems to be working well and the rabbits seem much happier. Hope you enjoy!

It's been nearly a month of quarantine and keeping the kids entertained goes a long way towards retaining everyone's sanity. Without play-dates, birthday parties, swimming lessons, etc. life can get a little dull being cooped up day after day. In this one Alexandra goes over some of the different activities she's been doing with the kids to keep them active and engaged.
All of these are simple, low-cost/no-cost ideas that virtually anyone can do with their kids. From art projects to wildcrafting fresh herbs and flowers, there is something even the youngest child can participate in.
Hope you guys enjoy this one. Leave a comment sharing ideas of what you're doing during this time to keep it your kids from climbing up the wall!

With everything going on right now we have seen a lot of interest from people looking to escape the city/suburbs for a homestead life in the country. The problem is most people don't know where to start. So in this one we visited our friends Kris and Rachel at Coyote Rose Farm and look at everything they've accomplished in just four months!
They've taken on chickens and goats, started a perennial berry patch, made numerous improvements to the property, and even started a business manufacturing and selling raised planter beds for people! I was blown away by how much they've done while still taking time to enjoy life in the country.
With everything going on right now it felt really good to hang out with some friends and I hope this lends some value to anyone who is thinking about making the leap into homesteading.
