I joined other volunteers from Grace Community Church to help the Canton, Texas tornado victims and aid in the disaster relief. On April 29, 2017, at least 9 tornados ripped across East Texas. Many families in Canton, TX and the surrounding area lost everything when the tornados came through. It was breathtaking to see the total destruction that one such tornado left behind. We spent the day cutting down trees and pushing debris into piles. I was told that there had been three houses on that lot of land. however, I could only find the remains of one. Only by God's grace, not one of the residents lost their life in this tornado. Watch the story of how God saved a families life by placing a freezer door between them and the raging storm. You will notice my voice crack as I fight back the tears while telling the amazing story of salvation! We just started cutting in our second swale on the homestead. This swale will collect rainwater and runoff groundwater from behind our house and deliver it to the roots of our fruit trees and other vegetation. Any additional water will spill over into the creek. We put this swale in with a tractor rear blade offset to one side.
