Houston police are investigating the shooting of an armed suspect who fired shots at HPD officers at 10200 Valencia Drive about 2 p.m. last Friday (December 10).
HPD patrol officers responded to a family disturbance call at a residence at the above address. Per the report, the suspect threatened to kill members of his family. The suspect was no longer on scene when officers arrived, but officers were given a description of him and the vehicle he was driving. While conducting the investigation, one of the officers saw the suspect, later identified as Limon, at a distance driving by. Officers caught up to Limon and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
The suspect refused to stop and fled from officers. Officers initiated a vehicle pursuit.
Limon drove back to the scene of the disturbance, exited his vehicle armed with a shotgun and fired several rounds at the officers. Fearing for their lives, Officers Casarez, Garcia and Gil returned fire and Limon was struck. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and the suspect, Marc Anthony Limon, 26, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
Limon is charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a police officer in the 482nd State District Court.

Florida --- Volusia Sheriff's Office --- Deputy-involved shooting: 5/12/20.
Body camera and Air One video footage of this week’s deputy-involved shooting of an armed suspect in Deltona after a traffic stop conducted on Gregory Howe by a DeLand police officer.
After Howe flees the traffic stop, the video transitions to footage recorded by the Sheriff’s Office Air One helicopter, followed by footage from two deputies who were involved and had body cameras recording during the incident.
At this point in the investigation of the shooting, based on physical evidence, witness accounts and video, we believe Howe leveled a Kel-Tec KSG tactical shotgun at deputies and fired one time.
Howe’s shotgun was recovered from inside his truck and was discovered to have been loaded with 13 rounds, 1 of which had been discharged.
During the approximately 10 seconds of gunfire, four deputies fired 82 times, striking Howe multiple times and resulting in fatal injury.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s investigation of the shooting is ongoing. Again, all the information provided by the Sheriff’s Office is preliminary and based on the information available at this time, prior to us interviewing the deputies involved.

The San Leandro Police Department released Body cameras footage, 911 call, and details and a community briefing video on June 11, 2019 officer-involved in fatal shooting incident involving 56 year-old San Leandro resident, Anthony Gomez.
The incident occurred on June 11, 2019, when San Leandro Police officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Martin Drive on the report of a man wielding a machete (large knife). One San Leandro Police officer fired one shot at the subject after the man challenged officers and brandished what officers thought was a handgun.

Cape Coral Police Department ---
On March 13, 2019 around 9:46 AM, Cape Coral Police were in the area of Vincennes Court and Miramar Street when Officer Cragin saw Christopher Pfister Jr. (W/M, DOB: 11/22/1994, 1408 SW 49th ST) who was know to him. Pfizer failed to stop at a posted stop sign while riding his bicycle so Officer Cragin got out of his patrol vehicle and yelled, “Police, stop.” At this time Pfister fled on his bicycle and looped around the Winn-Dixie grocery store parking lot before heading back towards Vincennes Court. Officers responded to the area and searched for Pfister.
A few minutes later, a resident at 1304 Miramar Street contacted police dispatch and stated that a white male matching Pfister’s description was observed running through her backyard and then hid in a staircase at her condominium complex. When the resident confronted Pfister he ran towards the back of the property and jumped into a canal. After swimming to the other side of the canal, Pfister was approached by Officer Maduro who commanded Pfister to stop but he ran away again jumping back into the canal.
For approximately the next half-hour, Pfister continued to elude police by refusing police commands to stop. Officers Maduro, Ledger, and Corporal Lemos approached Pfister who continued to evade police behind the residence of 5406 Coronado Parkway. Corporal Lemos commanded Pfister to stop before deploying his TASER. Pfister was then taken into police custody without further incident.
Pfister was charged with an outstanding warrant, Loitering and Prowling, and Resisting LE Without Violence.
He was transferred to Lee County Jail.

The Phoenix Police Department has released body camera and 911 call, related to an officer-involved shooting which occurred on February 13, 2024.
This incident unfolded following an emergency call reporting an unknown disturbance at an apartment near 19th Avenue and Berridge Lane. The caller reported a man was holding her mother at gunpoint and forced her back into their apartment into their residence.
Upon arrival, officers swiftly surrounded the apartment. Peering through windows, they witnessed the assailant physically assaulting the victim in a bedroom. Officers issued commands for all occupants to exit the premises. However, the suspect responded by brandishing a firearm from a window, firing shots at officers positioned at the rear of the residence. In response to the imminent threat, one of the officers returned fire.
Hearing the gunfire, officers stationed at the front of the apartment swiftly moved to the opposite side. It was here that another officer discharged their duty weapon, successfully incapacitating the fleeing suspect.
Following the exchange, the wounded suspect, identified as 35-year-old Edward Brown, received medical treatment for his non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital. Concurrently, the female victim involved in the initial violent altercation was also attended to for her injuries.
Brown was discharged from the hospital two days post-incident and subsequently booked into Maricopa County Jail by Phoenix police, facing multiple felony charges stemming from the shooting. Law enforcement recovered the firearm used by Brown during the confrontation.
The officers directly involved in this critical incident are assigned to the Desert Horizon Precinct, boasting 17 and 24 years of service with the department, respectively.

Fort Worth, Texas ---- The Fort Worth police chief is standing behind his decision to terminate an officer who fired shots into a suspect’s car.
The association representing Fort Worth police officers is lashing out at Chief Joel Fitzgerald after he fired a probationary police officer.
Last week, Officer Lena Mino conducted a traffic stop and determined the owner of the car had outstanding felony warrants. She reportedly told the driver to turn off the vehicle, but he did not comply. She drew her weapon and an “accidental discharge” led to a chase and standoff.
"This driver refused to take the vehicle out of drive, revved the engine and fleed officer Mino,” claimed Manny Ramirez with the Fort Worth Police Officers Association. “The driver turned his tires and pulled off quickly which, in the heat of the moment, startled officer Mino and she fired a round from her service weapon. She struck the vehicle but did not strike any passengers or injure any person and there was no damage done."
The police department issued a statement in response, contradicting Mino’s version of what she says happened.
“The Fort Worth Police Department has an established policy prohibiting officers from employing deadly force by shooting into vehicles unless the vehicle poses an immediate threat to that officer (or someone else),” police said in a statement. “In this instance, the vehicle slowly drove away from the officer and posed no immediate threat to the officer.”
The association says the suspect evaded arrest and was captured after randomly selecting and overtaking a family's home.
Officer Mino, who was just hours away from completing her one-year probationary period, was fired without the possibility of appeal.
The Fort Worth Police Officers Association believes the chief rushed to judgment and violated Officer Mino’s due process rights by terminating her. The association is angry about the message it sends to the rank and file.
“The chief of police determined in five days after a rushed and incomplete investigation that Officer Mino’s alleged violations of department policy warranted the termination of her employment,” Ramirez said. “Sometimes the discharge of firearms occurs unconventionally. There are officers in the detective, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, even command ranks that have taken the same actions and acted in the same manner as Officer Mino and some have received no more than a verbal counseling session or a written reprimand for discipline.”
Ramirez called the discipline premature and irresponsible. He claims it was rushed because Officer Mino was just seven hours away from completing her probationary period.

The Phoenix Police Department released a Critical Incident Briefing (CIB) video that includes audio, visuals and information related to an officer-involved shooting which occurred on September 30, 2020 at approximately 6:23 p.m.
A Phoenix Police Sergeant responded to multiple 911 calls of a man assaulting people and causing damage to property in the area of 44th Street & Camelback Road. The suspect was later identified as 38-year-old Khambrel Dante Sharp.
Upon arrival, the sergeant could see that Sharp was armed with an edged weapon. Sharp ignored commands to drop the weapon and ran from the sergeant. After a short foot pursuit, she located him lying down in a drainage ditch. The sergeant attempted to de-escalate the situation before Sharp moved toward her with the weapon in hand. At that time, she fired her service weapon.
Backup officers arrived on scene immediately after the shooting and provided first aid to Sharp. Phoenix Fire Department personnel transported him to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.
The weapon was recovered and determined to be a wooden handled pruning saw. No officers or other community members were injured in this incident.
The sergeant involved in this shooting is in the Patrol Division of the Phoenix Police Department, assigned to the Mountain View Precinct. She has been with the department for 16 years.
Conclusions about whether the actions of the officers are consistent with department policy and the law will not be made until all facts are known and the investigation is complete. An internal investigation by the Professional Standard Bureau is currently underway, in addition to a criminal investigation. Once the criminal investigation is complete it will then be reviewed by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

#officerinvolvedshooting #policebodycam Las Vegas, Nevada--- Authorities released revealing body cam video and the cause of death Friday for an armed suspect in an officer-involved shooting on Tuesday near the Las Vegas strip. The shootout and subsequent stand-off situation, left two Metro Police officers shot and one injured.
The Clark County Coroner's office said 25-year-old Miguel Salas died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Salas was the suspect named in the officer-involved shooting incident that happened Tuesday evening.
In the body cam video of the shooting, police asked Salas to step out of the truck and he refused.
"Step out of the car," an officer is heard saying.
"Why do you need me to step out of my car?" Salas said. "I'm not doing nothing!"
"Yes, you are. You're not listening to our command. Do you want to get tased?" the officer said.
In the video, an officer holds Salas' left wrist as he argued with the police. In a split second, Salas grabs a gun and starts firing at police. Officers run for cover and fire back at Salas.
"Shots fired! I've been hit! Shots fired, I've been hit!" Metro Police Officer Richard Nelson is heard yelling.
Police said units originally responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle, that was connected to a report of a stolen cell phone, parked in front of a business in the 4100 block of West Tompkins Avenue at 4:15 p.m.
According to Metro Police Sgt. Jeff Clark, as officers approached the vehicle, the suspect opened fire and struck two officers from inside the vehicle.
Officer Richard Nelson, 33, was wearing a bullet proof vest when he was hit in the lower left chest area and subsequently transported to University Medical Center. Nelson has four children and his parents and fiance were at the hospital while he was treated.
Sgt. Clark updated the situation and reported Officer Nelson "was okay" after the incident.
The other officer, who has not been identified, was also hit, but his uniform belt kept him from suffering any wounds, police said.
"It doesn't matter what area this happens in, everybody comes together and supports each other (in times like these)," Sheriff Joe Lombardo said.
Officer Nelson has been employed with the department since April 2009. He has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this incident.
Metro Assistant Sheriff Tom Roberts briefed the media Friday afternoon, said he spoke to both officers involved in the shooting and both are "doing well."
