Software Description: The Wavefusion generator, is a 3-oscillator wavetable synth with three LFOs, two ADSR envelopes, and a modulation envelope. Wavetable synthesis is often mistaken for sampling technology, but for this generator, a wavetable is a set of short, periodic waveforms that can be blended in realtime. ? Features: • Wavefusion control section This is the control group located at the top-center of the interface, with the Wavefusion logo on top of it. This control group contains some of the primary controls for this generator. By clicking in the WAVETABLE display, a ready-to-use wavetable can be loaded. A wavetable consists of up to 256 waveforms, each consisting of 256 sample points. Each of the three oscillators have the ability to blend between these series of waveforms - their initial position within the wavetable is determined by the WAVE controls in the oscillator control sections, as will be discussed later. The VOL knob simply controls the master volume of the Wavefusion generator. • OSC control sections On the left side of the interface, you'll see the three OSC sections, each controlling one of the generator's oscillators. Each oscillator has COARSE and FINE controls, used to adjust the tuning, and a WAVE knob, which is used to specify the initial wavetable position of the oscillator - the display below the WAVE knob shows the position as a number. The timbre of the oscillator's sound at various wavetable positions, is determined by the currently used wavetable, shown in the common control section described above. Let's assume you load the "SawSquare" wavetable, for example - it has a sawtooth wave at position 1 and a square wave at position 256. If you turn the WAVE knobs from left to right, you'll hear the waveform blending from sawtooth to squarewave. The MUTE switch can be used to turn on oscillator on or off - use these to help you while developing new sounds, so you can listen to one oscillator by itself, to make fine adjustments. Features: FILTER Section The filter section is located at the top left. CUT (Cutoff) Adjusts the Filter cutoff frequency. The keyboard track ("KB TRACK") button makes the cutoff frequency dependent on the actual note played - higher notes mean higher cutoff, lower notes means lower cutoff. RES (resonance) Adjusts the Filter resonance. ENV (envelope amount) The amount the filter cutoff frequency is affected by the Filter ADSR. OSC Section The oscillator section is located at the middle of the top. The first 2 wheels, CRS and FINE, are the coarse and finetuning of oscillator 1. Coarse tuning is adjustable in the range -3/+3 octaves, finetuning in -1/+1 semitone. The green buttons below set the oscillator shape, which is sawtooth by default. Oscillator 1 additionally has a FAT knob, which creates a richer spectrum and is good for pad or lead sounds. The slider between OSC1 and OSC2 adjust the mix ratio of the oscillators. When it's slid fully towards OSC1, oscillator 2 won't be audible. Oscillator 3 plays 1 octave below oscillator 1. The AMT (Amount) wheel sets it's volume, which is zero (inaudible) by default. Osc 3 has only 2 shapes, sawtooth (default) or square. The PW (Pulse Width) button only has effect when at least one of the oscillators is set to the square shape (the 2nd shape). It shortens 1 of the square flanks, thus making the sound thinner. At the very left position (default) it has no effect. The FM (Frequency Modulation) button modulates the frequency of oscillator 2 with the output of oscillator 1. To hear the effect, set the osc mix slider to the right (OSC2). Classic FM uses sinewaves (the 3rd oscillator shape), other waveforms may give noisy or strange results. LFO-1 Section LFO-1 can modulate the pitch of the output ("OSC1+2"), the filter cutoff frequency ("FILTER") or the Pulse Width ("PW"). The SYNC button synchronizes the frequency of the LFO to a multiple of the current tempo. RESET sets the LFO to the beginning of the LFO waveform (Phase=0) when a note is triggered.
