Video transcript: Valve has made some of the Steam decks slower than others & there’s not really anything you can do about it. So basically the specs have changed & apparently some models are shipping with the original SSD’s spec. Which runs at Gen3 on 4 lanes & now some other models have drives that run at also Gen3 but only on 2 lanes. Which means there’s literally only half of the original spec’d bandwidth available to the drive. Valve has probably done this to help with the supply constraints & they say there shouldn’t be a difference in gaming performance. Which doesn’t really matter because we don’t have any 3d party testing yet & the Steam deck is a full computer so you can do a lot more than just play games. Not a big fan at all, but it is what it is.

Intel is showing off a nameless graphics card at their IEM 2022 Dallas event.
These GPUs have been rumored for a long time at this point, but it seems they might finally launch by the end of the summer.
Their top-end model will be able to compete with the RTX 3070 & the AMD 6700x.
So not the highest-end stuff, but this is definitely a great price range for your typical gamers.
So obviously there’s no real specs & performance numbers to go over, but just seeing the physical thing just kind of gives you hope if you’re a gamer still waiting for a new GPU.

YouTube is officially disabling video playback if they detect the use of an ad blocker.
They say you’ll receive repeated warnings, but then if you don’t turn off your ad blocker or purchase YouTube Premium they’ll just make it so you can’t watch anything anymore.
They also say that in case they block you by mistake that there will be a support link.
But I mean YouTube is notorious for basically 0 support so if you get blocked, best of luck but YouTube’s probably not even gonna respond to you.
I’ve been talking about YouTube's experiments past few months with them blocking 4k playback, serving up to 10 ads per video & now their big crackdown on ad blockers.
Let me know if you use an ad blocker for YouTube or not and feel free to follow for more of …me…

The recent launch of OpenAI's ChatGPT is raising some serious alarms within Google.
Obviously ChatGPT is a massive competitor to Google search, because while Google just sort of scours & indexes the web & gives you the most appropriate result.
ChatGPT pretty much does the same, but is also able to extract information, put it all together & present it to you in a more digestible way.
Sort of like what I try to do with the tech news, so please leave a like and maybe follow for more.
Google is now focusing on AI as a primary domain, and has announced layoffs for over 12,000 employees.
And they’ve also announced that they plan to unveil more than 20 AI projects this year.
Including a version of its search engine with chatbot features.

Here are some of the freshest leaks of Intel’s upcoming 13th gen Raprot Lake processors.
This is lining up to be a gigantic generational improvement as there seems to be about a 10% uplift in single-core performance.
But more importantly Intel is adding a lot of cores across the lineup, I mean the top i5 CPU will come with a total of 14 cores and the top i9 model will come with a total of 24 cores.
And according to early leaked benchmarks the i9-13900K will be over 50% faster in multicore performance than its predecessor the i9-12900K.
Now a lot of these cores are Intel’s high-efficiency cores, but don’t forget they basically perform as well as the cores from old Skylake CPUs from just a few years ago.

Samsung has just released their 2nd generation computational storage device or you know a “smart SSD”.
The storage device is powered by an AMD Xilinx FPGA & promises up to 50% reduced computational times, lowered power consumption & about a 97% lower CPU utilization with frequently-accessed data..
So regular consumers might not know, but just transferring a lot of data can be very CPU intensive.
In fact a few years back I was filling up a database with data that needed processing & my old 4-core 4770K CPU was the bottleneck not my Corsair MP510 NvME SSD.
So will this make your games run faster; no not really.
But in workflows with a lot of frequently accessed data, this can make a big difference, just like you by following the Tech News.

Samsung is implementing a new feature into their phones that will be able to hide your data during repair.
So the thing is, if your device breaks & you have to take it in for repair, you kinda just have to format your device if you want your personal data to stay hidden.
There’s been plenty of stories over the years of various technicians including even Apple’s Genius bar people looking at your data while your device is in for repair.
And I actually also worked as a repair technician for a bit & I can tell you firsthand that there definitely are bad apples that look at your private files.
Not to mention that sometimes you also just randomly see them when you’re repairing a device, because that’s just how it is.
So Samsung’s new feature would basically make it so that technicians can still do their job & the owner would still have their private data protected which I think is awesome.
