Hennessy Hammock - Explorer Ultralite A-sym ZIP
The Explorer Ultralite A-sym was designed for anyone up to 250 lbs./ 113 kg and up to 7' / 213 cm tall. It also has the same high performance materials, proportions and protection as the smaller Ultralite Backpacker A-sym. If you are really close to 6 feet tall and you want the luxury of extra space, this would be a good choice.

Never a dull day... well sometimes. I was recently lucky enough to extinguish a chimney fire before I left my cabin for the day.
Chimney fires are caused by the build up of creosote inside the chimney. Creosote is highly combustible and if enough of it builds up it can ignite at high temperatures. Essentially you have to starve the fire of oxygen, batten everything down... or in my case blast dry powder into the burn box and pray.
Dry powder is messy. It took several days for me to clean things up in the cabin.
Lesson learned.

So one of the most recurring questions folks seem to ask me... Dude why are you wearing a chest rig?
I understand that the vast majority of backcountry or wilderness backpackers out there do not and probably will not wear a chest rig. To be clear I do not always wear one on my camping trips but there are occasions when I do.
Typically I will wear my chest rig if I am heading out for multiple days where I know I will not be encountering anyone, travelling un-mapped routes/trails or moving through known grizzly country. I like to stack the odds in my favor when I can.
Wearing a chest rig I am able to move away from my primary backpack and camping area, I enjoy setting up camp and then heading out to explore the area. Having a few extra tools and survival items on me at all times allows me to feel comfortable away from my primary gear.

I was able to push the RAVPower 250 battery bank pretty hard for 4 days. We had a couple days with temps reaching 100 degrees and I had no issue with the RAVpower charging batteries. I did charge the RAVpower in my vehicle for about an hour other than that the unit charged multiple drone and camera batteries every day. It also survived a good smash against a rock, complete with a small dent... it lived to charge again! If I have any issues with the unit Ill post updates here.

I hate to admit it but yes I lost my Sig Sauer P320 on a snow covered mountain, fortunately for just 3 weeks.
My chest holster is a molle holster, permanently attached to my vest, it has two different safety's that are always engaged... especially when I am scrambling up a snowy mountain. I also religiously check every 10 or so minutes when I am moving through snowy woods. This said, SOMEHOW the pistol managed to slide out of the holster... I'm guessing a combination of me slipping/flaling at times and snow getting on chest rig (possibly allowing firearm dislodge/slide out from holster)
I decided to purchase metal detector to help with the P320 rescue, I went with a lower end metal detector, the Bounty Hunter Land Ranger Pro. This metal detector did a great job, without it I would not of found my pistol.
I am happy to say that the Sig Sauer held up well, besides a little surface rust which I was able to clean up, she is firing just fine... like nothing happened.

Here I am installing the concrete foundation piers for my off grid log cabin build. Before I started mixing concrete we were lucky enough to have a couple days of good rainfall which allowed me to collect enough rainwater for concrete mixing.
The forms I am using are Sakrete branded 12 inch x 4 foot forms and the the concrete I am using is Sakrete High strength concrete mix.
Each 4 ft form required approximately 5.2 bags (80 pound bags), with 9 forms in total I used around 54 bags in total due to the fact extra concrete was poured around the exterior of the forms.
Cost break down:
54x 80 Pound Concrete Bag - $3.94
9x 12 inch x 4ft Forms - $10.42
18x 1/2 inch x 4ft Rebar - $3.27
Total: $365.40

Well folks its been a while since I put out a video. Living off grid does have its challenges, not having a driveway to Le Mountain shack creates some special challenges getting lumber & building materials up the mountain. I've spent many months hauling gear on back and quite frankly when I'm carrying 4x8ft boards on my head filming myself is the last thing on my mind.
Snow season is here so construction chores should slow down. Hopefully there will be more time for hobbies, adventures and more videos! Thank you to all my subscribers.
