This is a video of a project intended as gifts for someone. They are mechanical hearts and kind of fall into the Valentine category. I see them as a type of fidget spinner. I made two of them made from walnut and aspen. I like wooden things that have moving parts and this fits the bill. It is from a Steve Good pattern, link below:

A video to discuss the methods of stacking and cutting pieces that are indentical only in the outline or external cut of the pieces. In the video I glue the piece with the internal cuts already made to a piece intended to be a backing on a two piece layered project. To get the outline of two pieces identical they need to be layered and cut at the same time either before or after the internal cuts are done.

This video is about making a box from a block of wood. This is a simple procedure just 4 cuts but can be done in 3 depending on how you make the lid. I first glued three 3/4 in pieces of cedar together to make a cube about 2 and 1/4 inch in each direction. Then cut off about 3/16 of what I wanted to be the top and bottom. I then marked the walls of the box on the remaining block at about 3/16 to make a pattern on the top (or bottom) of the block. Drilled it and cut out the center of the block to create the cavity or internal area of the box. I cut 3/16 off of the top of the waste section to glue to the lid. I sanded and checked for alignment of the top and bottom and glued the bottom piece back on and then glued the waste section to the lid. No patterns needed except what you draw and you could eye and free hand those if you wished. It is a simple and fairly crude box but shows one method of making a box. If you cut the lid thick enough then you could attach the top with some small hinges and a latch and pass on cutting the piece for the underside of the lid.

A companion video to the wood burning embellishment video. A link to the first one will be at the end screen. Not as good an outcome as I wanted but will try again with different wood and tools. I think it could be a good technique to enhance the looks of scroll saw fretwork.

A Steve Good Pattern, link to it below. First I printed the pattern at 70 percent of original size to fit my material on hand. I stacked two different woods to get a contrast between body, bead, talons and limb. I used two different stains to accent the contrast. By stacking I was able to make two contrasting projects. I used a jewelers file, a flex shaft dremel and my belt/disc sander and of course some hand sanding to form the pieces.

In this video I combine three of my favorites, boxes, fretwork and Christmas. It is a Steve Good pattern, I will have a link below. I made the base and fretwork from walnut and used aspen for the liner. It is coated with clear enamel which darkens the walnut and brings out the grain in both woods.

I try my first intarsia. I learned that I need to tighten up my cutting. And, I need better shaping tools. I will work on both and try some more of this soon.
