Something went horribly wrong in this mixer. There was a small fire that burned a hole in the PCB and destroyed a few components. Also there was a bit of a mystery with a peak detector in one of the channels. The damage was repaired and the peak detector was fixed as well.

This is a capacity test of a no-brand VW-VBT380 battery replacement for Panasonic HC-VX981 4K camcorder. The battery was purchased on AliExpress for about $20 including shipping. The result of the test is a bit disappointing. The battery has about 75% of the nominal capacity. However, the genuine Panasonic battery was almost exactly as it should.

Another case of "blue screen of death". It happened to be entirely different problem from the previous one (see link below). After some exploration and an unsuccessful attempt to extract firmware from a piece of code for OS X, the right firmware was found and programmed into the chip. What a luck! Too many details about hex dumps, check sums and such? Let me know if you think so.

DIY Li-ion battery pack for Fluke 19x scopemeters. About twice the capacity of the original Ni-MH pack. Requires a small modification in the scopemeter: adding a 120K 1% resistor across R4113.

Another lucky find from eBay. The unit was listed for parts or repair with the description that it quickly flashes an error message. Upon powering up there was a burning smell. The culprit was found to be a tantalum capacitor, which was promptly replaced.
