Nettles are often view as just a prickly weed, but in fact they are a great source of protein, and hold high amounts of vitamins, iron, calcium, potassium and zinc. They help to detoxify the body and keep your hair and skin healthy.
All too often life can feel like a competition to see who is the busiest. Our lives are filled with rushing, stress, anxiety and exhaustion. Being overworked has become a marker of success, and it’s difficult to resist getting caught up in the wave. We're less in tune with our bodies and minds and there's little time left over to simply 'be'.
We don’t need to live life at breakneck speed. There is so much joy and wonder surrounding us in our daily lives - we just need to stop and take time to notice it. And it’s then that we realise that beauty truly is everywhere.

From the bustling streets of busy cities to the serene landscapes of remote towns and villages, humanity encompasses a remarkable array of cultures and traditions. Yet beneath our diverse appearances and backgrounds, we all share similar experiences of joy and pain, love, and loss. When we start to embrace this shared humanity, focussing on the qualities that unite us, we start to create a sense of empathy and understanding.
When we seek to truly understand the perspectives and emotions of others, we put ourselves in their shoes, bridging the gap between ourselves and others. And by leading with kindness, we create a ripple effect that spreads throughout our communities and beyond, contributing to a more compassionate and inclusive society.
In the words of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, “We are different so that we can know our need of one another. For no one is ultimately self-sufficient.”

There is a saying that goes: “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”
For centuries, the greatest thinkers have suggested the same thing: Happiness is found in helping others. The key is to find the approach that works for each of us and our own individual passions. When we do, then the more we give, the more we stand to gain purpose, meaning and happiness — all of the things that we look for in life, but are so hard to find.
And so the purpose of life is to be useful, to be honourable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well. And the happiness will flow from there.

Joy is what makes life beautiful. It's what gets us through challenges and allows light in to illuminate the shadows. Joy heals our wounds and fills our souls with goodness.
By reminding yourself of the things you have to be happy about, by creating more time to do the things you love and by spending time with the people you care about, you can create a life that is more joyful and fulfilling. And you will see and experience life through different eyes.
In this new year, why not resolve to find more joy in your everyday life!

During difficult and dark times, we often feel an overwhelming sense of isolation, as if the weight of our struggles is ours alone to bear. In these moments, it's important to recognise that authenticity and genuine openness can act as a beacon, guiding us towards a network of support we may not have realised was there.
Authenticity acts as a lantern, revealing people who stand ready to share the weight of our struggles. When we bravely show our true selves, including our vulnerabilities, we uncover an unseen tapestry of connections, woven with threads of support, kindness, and understanding. And in being our true selves, we invite others to join us in navigating the difficulties of life, transforming our solitary journey into a shared path illuminated by the warmth of human connection.

We've become so reliant on our words - we've allowed language to get in the way - we've forgotten that there are so many ways to communicate.
Animals, especially horses, understand our intentions and are able to communicate with us without needing to use words.
After a series of strokes, Gary was left unable to speak. But this didn't stop him from communicating. Through his relationship with his horses, we learn that we are more than just our words!
"Animals have so much to teach us about true communication, if only we were willing to listen." - Lisa Smith

The Ponta do Ouro Partial Marine Reserve is part of the Ponta do Ouro-Kosi Bay TFCA, Africa's first marine TFCA and part of the Lubombo TFCA.
Around 77% of the marine turtles monitored in Mozambique nest in the Marine Reserve. It is thus the most important leatherback and loggerhead turtle nesting ground along the Mozambican coast.
What makes the Marine Reserve's turtle monitoring programme all the more exciting, is that it links up with the turtle monitoring programme of iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a World Heritage Site, that is now in its 43rd season.
Good news for turtles!
A look into the Marine Reserve's turtle monitoring programme.
