As we climb the "skill tree" in a specific domain, there are fewer and fewer people that can provide us with adequate feedback. On the other hand, if you know nothing, just about anyone can give you at least some feedback. This might be a reason why the rate of growth slows down, the better you become at something. Personally, I have found it very rewarding and enjoyable to constantly aquire new skills. Could it be because the potential feedback is thereby also constantly maximized, and with it also the growth rate?
