I am building this loop following a build guide from the interweb (nonstopsystems) , not all build guides are equal and this one is no exception.. :-) its good but really does need careful examination prior to cutting the driven loop. there is an Excel spreadsheet to calculate the driven loop hypotenuse (the longest side of a right angled triangle) in my case 580mm.. it is given in Cm (I've not used Cm since school :-) ) he does reference sm0vpo who did the original 80Mtr take of this loop antenna. The base design is a military loop even earlier than the AN190-BC611 US Army homing loop, I have even seen very early pictures of these used on motorcycles (1932 ish). The basic design is very close to that of a magloop antenna being driven driven by a Faraday loop. if you know anything more on this loop antenna design and its true origin I would love to know..
