Video Blog #081 - HP 34401A 6.5 digit Multimeter Repair - Part 2
In this video I continue repair of an HP 34401A 6.5 digit Multimeter. I replace the VFD display and offer up an explanation as to why the display board has it's own virtual ground.
Whilst researching the idea behind designing and building a handheld Voltage Source I actually ended up buying an EDC 501-J Programable D.C Voltage Source. However, it was the remote programmable version without the front panel controls, so what better to do than design & build my own front panel and retro fit it to the unit. Complete with LCD, pushbuttons & Arduino powered of course!

This is Part 3 of the repair of my Keithley 2001 7.5 digit Multimeter. Picked up quite cheap I was hoping for an in-depth repair.....and it certainly hasn't disappointed so far!
In this video I work on the Display Board, the aim to get it up and running with the main digital board.

I purchased a Solartron 7075 7.5 digit voltmeter from Ebay and decided to make some front panel modifications, firstly to replace the 5-pin input connector with banana sockets, and also to replace the broken handles. Once done I went ahead and performed a partial re-calibration using my own voltage source and HP3458a DMM as a transfer standard.

Unhappy with the lighting on the display of my HP 3457A I had the idea to add LED backlighting to the LCD.....which doesn't support backlighting without major surgery!
