dell Replaces my Latitude E6530 with a Latitude E6540
This computer was given to me by Dell as a replacement of my previous one. It is gorgeous, and in many wways, I like it better than the previous model. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LRdDcSMfLI
I dug this Toshiba laptop out of a pile of computers that was being taken to the trash collectors and took this video just before it was discarded. It is a 2003 Toshiba Satellite A20-S207 laptop, and as you can see in the video, it looks pretty solid except for the display hinge, which is badly loosened to the point where the display couldn't even hold itself up. Unfortunately, due to the amount of computers that the organization gets, it is impossible to test every single one, and this was one that didn't get a chance to be tested. Now the time comes when we had to throw a lot of things away, and this was one of them, so I don't, and never will know whether this Toshiba could have been saved.

In this video, I install and configure OpenSSH under Cygwin, though the service refuses to start for some reason. I still have to figure that out.

Here I am trying to install the drivers that pertain to this system and it took me forever to find the most important one in the stack, the gigabit ethernet driver. Dell could really do a better job at naming their software on the disk so that people can know what they're installing firsthand without clicking on it first. And sorry about the sideways view of the screen; bad tripod positioning on my part; let me know if you have issues seeing this.

Have you ever wondered about other ways to backup and compress your files? Are zip files just too big? Well, meet Wim Archiver, a utility that allows you to do just that. With Wim Archiver, you use the fantastic compression of the Windows Imaging format in order to compress files and directories; this is the same format used for storing Windows installation files themselves on Windows install discs. Other tools by Levtec Corporation also make use of this file format; Core Recovery is one; it uses it to back up your computer rather than relying on some third-party format that requires a particular software to read. Anyway, this video introduces you to Wim Archiver and what it can do.

You have seen everything in this video before, but around Thanksgiving, the space was rearranged, and I never got the chance to publish a video about it. It looks a lot neater with the exception of the box of junk that I need to put back in my desk. And sorry for the video being done in portrait mode; I use VoiceOver on iOS, and I can't seem to get the camera to turn sideways on the newer versions of iOS, however, I do like the guidance in keeping the camera level. Need to get used to it, though.

This unit had been sitting around in the back office for about a year. We just now got recently around to testing it.
