Today I chill and get through a sizeable amount of an Isaac run while taking a swig every time I lose a full hearts worth of health.
The Binding of Isaac Repentance has obviously just come out recently and I actually did a video covering it so head on over to my channel page if you'd like to see my impressions of what I've seen so far.
Thanks to Jess for providing the soundtrack for this video. Heres their channel:

Super Meat Boy is not the first super hard indie platformer to exist for sure, but it will probably always be heralded as one of the more refined and most fun to play titles in the niche sub-genre.
On the opposite end Super Meat Boy Forever will probably always be a divisive sequel that brings up the same old arguments over and over again about auto-running, soundtracks, and art styles. The more puzzly levels and the procedural generation of stages definitely weren't for everyone. In the Year 2022 it is hard to talk about the meat cube without some level of toxic conversation manifesting and that's really unfortunate... but rest assured Meat Boy fans of all shapes and sizes, there is one thing we can all unanimously agree on, one thing that we can all point to knowing that no matter what camp we're in... that THIS.. is of frighteningly subpar quality... no, not my chanel. I am of course talking about the original game that debuted on Newgrounds before it's xbox equivalent... Meat Boy.

Have you ever found a videogame or piece of media that you just love but.. the fanbase of said thing started becoming the most pervasive thing in your head, making it increasingly hard to enjoy said thing? It’s a story as old as time at this point.. and a problem that seems to only be getting worse as years pass us by. It’s not uncommon for a titles community to be brought up in conversation before anyone even discusses the actual quality and merits of the game.
Today I'll be going over how communities affect the games we play and why it's important to play a game unspoiled every now and again.

Very often when I'm browsing the infamous bird app I come across some cool pixel art that; while really awesome.. Is just a concept for something that will never exist. So imagine my delight when I learned that not only is this really cool looking Plants Vs Zombies styled Isaac game real.. It's releasing SOON.
I love how it stays true to how these enemies function in vanilla Isaac. Like how the Meat Cubes act as a barrier between your units and the enemies. No finite release date on this one but again.. It's confirmed to be coming soon.
The Legend of Bumbo has arrived on Gog and the Epic store. I have been waiting for an update on this game for a while.. But this was not what I would have preferred.
The Legend of Bumbo is in an poor state.. With reviews on steam calling it way too luck dependent and at times.. even unfinished.
With the incredible amount of attention that Isaac was getting it's hard not to want more love to be given to it's spin off game as well, a gog and Epic port are fine but.. It implies that Bumbo is worth being ported in the state it's in and as it is now, it really isn't.
Hoping we see some balance changes and new content add-ons to Bumbo.. In the near future.
Thanks in advance for watching and please do all the typical things YouTubers ask you to do like, comment, yada yada.. and I'll see you all again.. Very soon.. Buh-bye.

Omoris biggest and most anticipated upcoming fangame was arguably a project called OMARI, which was an alternate universe where Sunny and Maris roles were reversed.
Characters like Hero and Basil had entirely different tones and life experiences that would have fundementally changed their personalities.
The premise was simple but... drew a lot of attention as even if it would ultimately follow a lot of similar story beats it was neat to see how one fundmental change would disrupt the character arcs and feeling of the entire cast.
Unfortunately though one of the developers recently to took to their discord announcements channel to explain that the team was just not afforded the freetime and motivation to continue working on the game.

Don't Starve has been in my peripheral vision for years, with steam constantly showing me Wilsons face all the time, I finally got into it.
The survival and crafting genre has largely been something that disinterests me since you're in menus a lot of the time, so this safely stayed outside the wavelength of games I'd actually play for a very long time.
Besides my friends recommending it, It wasn't until I realized just how mechanically sound it all was and how deliberate it felt in it's design that I started to take an interest. And even if there is one giant, glaring issue in one of it's core mechanics, it's really difficult to find a videogame that feels as fulfilling in it's moment to moment feel as either of the Don't Starve games.
They are basically survival games in fast motion.
Inconveniences that would be annoying in other games like your hunger meter and resource usage end up feeling exponentially interesting here. While a lot of people don't mind that Minecraft eventually included a hunger bar, it's easy to tell that it's not something that's essential to the games base DNA, at times it can feel like something that was just included so that there was more of a "game" component overall.
Whereas in Don't Starve, it feels more calculated in how the developers included it (I mean it's in the games title of all things) your hunger meter drains abnormally fast, and even after you've gotten into a nice grove of tending to your base and making sure you've got a lot of the essentials.. It's still easy to accidentally get complicit and have it sneak up on you, and this forces you to constantly put yourself in danger. It's like the game is giving you a routine that you naturally discover and by the time you take a step back and realize what you're doing you understand..
"Oh.. This is the game."

What are the advantages and disadvantages of releasing.. anything in parts? It’s a nice way to keep the momentum going for sure, with Chapter 2's launch last month, you can be rest assured that people are conversing about it a lot more now than if the entire game just released at once a handful of years ago, your interest in the memes and character ships themselves be cursed.
