The novel is set in 1893, a mere four years before it was written. Personal journal entries from an English lawyer, Jonathan Harker, start off the novel. Harker travels to Count Dracula's castle in Transylvania to assist him with legal business. Unfortunately for Harker, things go wrong fairly quickly. Dracula imprisons him in his castle. When he tries to sneak out, three female vampires attack Harker. Dracula saves him temporarily, but only because he needs information about England from Harker. It turns out that Dracula is planning to move. Once he knows what he wants from Harker, he leaves Harker to the mercy of the three female vampires. Harker barely escapes with his life.
Dracula travels to England on a Russian ship called the Demeter. When the ship runs aground, the crew is discovered missing. The captain's log explains that the crew slowly disappeared. The ship's recovered cargo turns out to be dirt from Transylvania. Meanwhile, in England, Dracula turns his attention to hunting down Jonathan Harker's associates. He starts secretly drinking the blood of one of Harker's female friends, Lucy Westenra. When she grows weaker, another one of their friends, Dr. John Seward, calls in Professor Abraham Van Helsing, the first person who sees Dracula for what he really is.
Helsing can tell that Lucy's blood is being drained by a vampire, but he thinks that the others will think he is crazy for suggesting it. His hesitation proves fatal: one night, Lucy is attacked by a wolf. She dies, but soon after, a newspaper reports that children are seeing a beautiful lady in the woods. Helsing knows he cannot hide the truth about Lucy any longer. He confides in her friends. Together they hunt Lucy down and stake her through the heart. This ends her vampire curse, but they cannot bring her back from the dead. After this, Jonathan Harker and his wife, Mina, join the others. They decide to kill Dracula. Dracula retaliates by feeding on Mina several times. He also forces her to drink his blood, so he can control her.
Determined to save Mina, her husband and their friends destroy Dracula's lair in England and drive him back to Transylvania. They chase Dracula back to Transylvania, where the three female vampires from earlier try to convince Mina to join them. Van Helsing hunts them down and kills them. Then they hunt down Dracula. He is in a box of dirt being delivered back to his castle. Harker cuts Dracula's throat, while his friend stabs Dracula in the heart with a knife. Dracula turns to dust, breaking his connection with Mina.

Victor Hugo's Les Miserables Marius Book 3 The Grandfather And The Grandson Sub Category 4-8
Marius is a wealthy young man who adores his grandfather Gillenormand. However,
Gillenormand has cut off Marius from his father, Georges Pontmercy, because the two men disagree on politics. Marius thought his father abandoned him, but the friendly churchwarden Monsieur Mabeuf tells him the truth, and Marius begins to idolize his father (who has died). Eventually, this leads to a falling-out between Marius and Gillenormand, and Marius starts a new life. He becomes friends with the revolutionary ABC Society, and falls in love with Cosette, and beautiful young woman that he sees in the Luxembourg garden. Marius is unable to find this young woman again, and falls into despair.
However, the past catches up to them. The Thénardiers attempt to extort money from Valjean by kidnapping him, but Marius intervenes and saves him. The eldest Thénardier daughter, Éponine, has fallen in love with him. Marius has eyes only for Cosette, and the two establish a relationship when Marius leaves a notebook of love letters in her garden. Their romance is cut short when Valjean decides that he and Cosette must leave France and move to England, because of the social upheaval.
In despair, Marius joins an uprising against the government. He finds his friends from the ABC Society at a barricade, where they are doing battle against the police and the army. Javert has attempted to infiltrate their ranks as a spy, but he has been discovered and lashed to a pole. Éponine dies protecting Marius on the barricade.
Valjean, who has discovered Marius' love for Cosette, joins the group at the barricade. He volunteers to execute Javert, but then lets him go instead, much to Javert's bewilderment. Valjean returns just as the army is overwhelming the barricade. He seizes a gravely injured Marius and disappears down the sewers. Javert is waiting for Valjean at the exit, but rather than arresting him, he shows Valjean mercy and allows him to bring the wounded Marius to safety (Marius never learns the identity of the man who saved him). Disgusted and horrified at his lapse of duty, Javert commits suicide.
Marius recovers from his wounds and, with the blessing of Gillenormand and Valjean, marries Cosette. Valjean has confessed his criminal past to Marius, who is horrified that the man is a criminal. Marius and Cosette grow closer as Valjean and Cosette grow farther apart. Valjean's life loses its meaning without Cosette, and his health fades. However, Valjean's heroism is made clear to Marius when Thénardier unwittingly reveals to Marius that it was Valjean who saved him on the night the barricade fell. Marius and Cosette arrive in time to comfort Valjean on his deathbed and the old man dies i

Dombey and Son
Chapter 1-12 Summary And Analysis Chapter 13 Part 1
Paul Dombey is the owner of Dombey and Son, a shipping company. The wealthy business owner dreams of having a son to take over the family business one day. He neglects his first child, a girl, because she is not the boy for whom he had hoped. Dombey’s first wife dies shortly after giving birth to his namesake son. This leaves both his newborn son and his six-year-old daughter, Florence, motherless. Mrs. Richards, whose nickname is Toodle, serves as a wet nurse to Little Dombey.
Little Paul Dombey grows into a frail child who is often sick. He loves his older sister, Florence. For his health, his father sends him to the seaside city of Brighton, which does him good. Little Dombey receives an intense education in Brighton at Dr. and Mrs. Blimber’s school. At school, he becomes friends with his schoolmate Mr. Toots. Alas, Little Dombey’s health gets worse, and he dies at the mere age of six years old.
The death of his son causes Mr. Dombey to distance himself even further from Florence. In addition, Florence’s friend, Walter Gay,is sent to work in Barbados at a counting house of her father’s firm. On Walter’s way to Barbados, his ship is reported lost at sea. With one of her few friends presumed drowned, poor Florence is even lonelier than before.
The wealthy widower Mr. Dombey is now an attractive potential husband. He is introduced to several potential brides and marries Mrs. Edith Granger. Edith is the widowed daughter of Mrs. Skewton. Mr. Dombey marries Edith because she has the correct family connections and accomplishments. Mr. Dombey does not love Edith. The proud Edith married because her family is facing financial difficulties. The marriage is not a happy one. The only reason Edith stays is because she has become fond of Florence. After an argument, Edith leaves the marriage by running away to Dijon with Mr. Carker. She hopes to ruin her husband’s reputation.
The furious Mr. Dombey takes out his anger on Florence. He hits Florence, who then runs away from home. She goes to stay with a friend of Walter Gay, the retired Captain Edward Cuttle at the Wooden Midshipman. While the hook-handed man nurses Florence back to health, Mr. Toots is a regular visitor. Mr. Toots has loved Florence since they spent time together in Brighton.
Meanwhile, Mr. Dombey goes in search of his wife, Edith, aided by Alice Brown, a vengeful former lover of Mr. Carker. In Dijon, Mrs. Dombey flees Mr. Carker, who was solely her means of escape. Mr. Carker has now lost love and employment. As Mr. Carker returns to England from Dijon, he dies after accidentally falling under a train.
Florence is delighted when her friend Walter Gay turns up alive at the Midshipman. H
