Some dubtechno inspired by the beautiful plant Bacopa Monnerie.
All sounds come directly from one hardware sampler.
Just like music was made back in the days.
No laptop, no external fx, no eq, no plugins.
Just FUNK...oh and I do this live.

The slicing-algorithm of the electribe esx contains a nifty automatic crossfade-loop-feature which can be really handy. Here's a demonstration of a technique which can create interesting effects without using extra samplememory. Hope you like it. (WARNING: european english is used :)
HINT #1: optionally you can resample the seamless loop, and put it on a drumpart. Whenever you experience a 'click'-sound re-apply the envelope 'fadein' trick as shown at 03:38
HINT #2: The sample above was extracted from a soundfont, so it was already loopable (hence the 'all'-slice was looping). So, this means you can prepare a looping sample on your laptop: in your waveeditor apply a fadeout on the end of your sample. Then apply a fadein on the beginning of your sample. Cut that first-part, and mix (not paste) it with the end of your sample. Voila its a seamless looping sample. Hope it makes sense :) If not let me know and I'll demonstrate it in a video.

technique A:
1. create an empty sample called 'midi out'
2. assign it to the (midi)tracks you want to use
3. make sure to set 'Audio Thru' to 'on' in global settings
4. profit!
technique B (adds realtime FX):
1. set 'Audio Thru' to 'off' in global settings
2. set track 16 to sample 'Audio in'
3. record an infinite note on track 16
4. apply effects to track 16
5. profit!
NOTE: I prefer technique A because: I'm lazy + I use my midi-channels as a temporary vehicle to trigger outboard midi-gear (to sample sequenced phrases easily, and resample them later with FX).

FAQ
====
Q: is it a new OS?
A: no
Q: is a sample pack upgrade?
A: yes and more. The samples are optimized for small memory (silence stripped), and embedded in a unique way, making it possible to traverse thru the sample using the start-position (and automating that) on each part. That is a huge upgrade, since normally you would be limited to one sample per part.
Q: Will it erase all my patterns and settings from the esx after installing it?
A: yes, an electriber typically would write backups to his/her SM-card first (see manual: shift+16, save All)
Q: I understand that you can have many tracks on one part after installing the esx file. But how is that work in terms of sequencing? What if I want my hihats track to run on all 16 steps of the part? How/Where do you fit other instruments on that part too?
A: using the start-position knob. You could manually specify a sample by specifying a start-value for each step (in step mode). Or, if you're like me, you just hit record and randomly mess with the start-position knob).
Q: Is this pack loaded with patterns?
A: No. There are a couple example patterns which demonstrate the possibilities and ways of organizing patterns.
So, it's not a pack with loads of patterns. You should create those patterns. The pack demonstrates a new concept of organizing tracks on the ESX with more samples on each tracks, and less overall memory.
Q: Can i create a beat with different samples on one part, with each playing at different pitches?
A: Yes. Here's a small guide (make sure you first load the ESX-file in your ESX):
1. make sure motion sequence-button is set to smooth or trig hold
2. press play, and trigger step 1, 5, 9 & 13
3. go to step mode
4. press the step of which you want to change the sample (1, 5, 9 or 13 should flash now)
5. hold shift and turn the dialbutton to 'start'
6. press arrow down (next to patternknob) to select the startvalue
7. turn the dialbutton to set the 'start'-value (sample)
8. for example, put a kick on step 1 & 9, and a snare on 5 & 13
9. repe

Finally, the new album: "Funk politie #1" is here. Earlier, Leon Du Star officially announced his exit from the scene. But still it seems impossible for Leon Du Star to not make and share funk with the world. Leon (and other people) have been working really hard on this collection of old and new work. They tried to put as much funkyness as possible into this album: musically as well as graphically.
The graphics are livecoded and generated by 3 fluxusartists, instead of being crafted by traditional videosoftware. The fluxusalgorithms detect changes in different frequencybands of the music, which on its turn influences the timbre of the tunnel. Technology and art are going insane these days! All tracks have been 'massaged' (mixing/mastering/postproduction) by Daniel Maters.
Leon Du Star's comment to this album: "I want to thank everybody who made this album possible, especially my girlfriend, friends, family, and the illuminati. I hope the listeners will really feel the uncomplicated funk I felt while making it. This is not my funk, its our funk, funk is an association between all previously experienced funk made by other human funkbeings (and that includes all my musiccollegues..respect). Real funk is positive, real funk is happy with a dirty face, real funk is simple. To keep things simple one has to listen funk to remember. Stay tuned for the djalbum with the separate tracks and a free HD DVD-link of this video." Credits: Gáspár Hajdu,Gábor papp,Zoltán Csík-Kovács,Daniel Maters, Disfunktion & Aby. WWW . LEONDUSTAR .
