At the 2014 IPCPR Trade Show, General Cigar Company’s La Gloria Cubana brand unveiled its third release of its limited edition La Gloria Cubana Trunk Show Series. The La Gloria Cubana Trunk Show 2014 releases three new cigars, but keeps true to the Trunk Show’s characteristics of including smokeable cigar bands, using rare tobaccos, and featuring innovative packaging.
The Trunk Show 2014 will feature the same names as the 2013 edition – named for the appropriate blender: Michael Giannini’s Liga MG-08, Yuri Guillen’s Liga YG-23, and Jhonys Diaz’s Liga JD-05. Following a strategy used with the Trunk Show 2013, the MG-08 and YG-23 will be brick and mortar exclusives while the JD-05 will be an internet / catalog exclusive. The Trunk Show 2014 edition will feature a new size – a 7 1/4 x 54. Each of the three releases will be a one time “one and done” release of 500 boxes of 26. The cigars are targeted for an October, 2014 release.
According to Michael Giannini, General Cigar’s creative director, and the originator of the Trunk Show concept, “Jhonys Diaz, Yuri Guillen and I are constantly experimenting with rare tobaccos, developing blends that can only be made available in small batches. The Trunk Show gives us the opportunity to share these unique blends with true cigar connoisseurs who are drawn to exotic flavor and new taste experiences.”
This is the third year of the Trunk Show Series – which was introduced back in 2012.

"Warped’s ever expanding portfolio will get a new addition next month—Flor Del Valle Sky Flower.
After a few weeks of teasing, Kyle Gellis finally explained what he had planned for the line’s fourth vitola. It’s not just a new size—5 5/8 x 48—but also a slightly tweaked blend. Sky Flower will use the same base blend as the rest of the Flor Del Valle line—a Nicaraguan puro—but adds some medio tiempo leaf.

Medio tiempo is the priming found on some tobacco plants above the ligero priming. While the leaves are smaller, they are also more potent. It gained some notoriety a few years ago when Habanos S.A. announced the Cohiba BHK would utilize it.
Like the rest of the line, Flor Del Valle Sky Flower is made at Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. (TABSA) in Estelí, Nicaragua.
While the cigar will be a regular production item, Gellis indicated that its production will be more limited due to difficulty of obtaining workable medio tiempo leaf. Sky Flower is sold in 10-count boxes, as opposed to 25-count for the rest of the line, and priced at $12.50 per cigar."

"The Los Status Deluxe, part of the Forged Cigar Co. portfolio, is rolling out to retailers after undergoing what the company is calling an extreme makeover at the hands of Matt Booth, Justin Andrews and STG’s Honduran blending team.
“When we decided two years ago to revamp Los Statos Deluxe, we opted to work with Matt Booth, to tap his creativity,” said Matt Wilson, senior brand manager of Los Statos Deluxe, via a press release. “This collaboration was fortuitous because we’re now presenting the new Los Statos Deluxe as our first release with Matt as a member of our team. We’ve ultimately taken a great brand and breathed new life into it by calling on modern imagery and a provocative blend that transitions as the smoke progresses. We believe we have all the elements in play to make Los Statos Deluxe a brand that everyone will be talking about this summer and beyond.
The blend now features an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers, which the company describes as “both bold and smooth, offering coffee and chocolate notes, with subtle black pepper spice.” It is being made at STG Danlí in Honduras and offered in four sizes:
Los Statos Deluxe Robusto (5 x 50) — $8.49 (Box of 20, $169.80)
Los Statos Deluxe Toro (6 x 52) — $8.99 (Box of 20, $179.80)
Los Statos Deluxe Churchill (7 x 49) — $9.49 (Box of 20, $189.80)
Los Statos Deluxe Gigante (6 x 60) — $9.49 (Box of 20, $189.80)
“I am honored to have the opportunity to lend my touch and collaborate on the direction of the revitalization of the Los Statos Deluxe brand,” Booth said in a press release. “I believe that with this new expression, the stance that Los Statos Deluxe will take at retail will command the attention of both the traditionalist and pique the interest of the most discerning collectors simultaneously. It is heartfelt that as a bi-product of our efforts, the Los Statos Deluxe brand will continue to receive the respect is has long since earned.”
Los Statos Deluxe began shipping to retailers on July 11, and is being distributed by STG’s Forged Cigar Company."
