A check on how Frangipani is doing. Looks like we have a queen but we'll see how it goes. On reviewing the video I noticed a hive beetle on one of the frames. This could get interesting. This is the hive that the bees chewed a second entrance through the entrance reducer so looks like I need to fill it in to keep the sneaky buggers out
Been a busy few months and with the cooler weather, not as much going on and fewer inspections. Hopefully we'll be into the hives next weekend to check the mite treatment strips and the food stores.
Having a check of the Santorini hive to see if there's enough brood to remove the queen excluder from below the bottom box. I use the excluder as insurance to help prevent the queen from flying away after install.
I was going to remove the mite strips but this is what I found happening at the entrance. It looked at a robbing attempt at Frangipani so there was no way I was popping the lid. They looked like they were holding their own so let it ride. Things looked back to normal late afternoon so all is good.
