From https://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/spas.html - When you buy a used hot tub you need to make the assumption that the hot tub has not been maintained properly. This means if you attempt to use it before cleaning it (properly) then you might find yourself with a bacterial skin infection or worse. The main line of defense against this problem with a use hot tub is the pipe flush/line flush procedure. This is the process that strips biofilm from the inside of the plumbing lines which is where most of the bacteria in a spa resides.
From a technical stand point, approach buying a used hot tub like buying a used car - there are good models of hot tubs and bad models of hot tubs, ancient ones and ones only a few years old. Choose wisely to limit your chances of having a problem. You should also consider the individual replaceable components and their current condition. This is the jets, the heater, the topside control, the pump, the hot tub lid, and the spa pack The more of these components which are new or have been recently replaced the better.

From http://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/best-heater.html - What is the best way to heat a pool? In this video Steve talks about why this is a difficult question to answer. The best way to heat your pool will depend on where you are located as well as your expectations of heat. The main types of pool heaters are natural gas or propane heaters, electric heat pumps and solar pool heaters. Only one of these three is designed to extend the length of your swimming season while the other two are made to improve your in-season swimming temperatures.

From http://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/liner-installation.html - Learn if and when the wrinkles will disappear with the vacuum turned on when installing a new vinyl liner in a swimming pool. How easily wrinkles come out of the liner depends on if the floor of the pool is wet or dry. Wetness causes friction and a suction-like effect which makes it more difficult to move the liner around as needed to remove wrinkles and it will need to be manually moved into place. A dry pool floor would allow the liner to move more freely into place with the vacuum on and less manual manipulation. Wrinkles in the center of the floor, and as much as possible around the edges, should be out of the liner before adding water to the pool.

http://www.SwimmingPoolSteve.com - When learning how to ground a swimming pool it is important that you fully understand the difference between bonding versus grounding. The bonding grid is the process of bonding all metal components in and around a swimming pool together which forces them to all carry the same electrical potential (voltage). Grounding is the process of taking that potential, and forcing it to be equal to the lowest possible potential, which is zero.

From https://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/bd-review.html - The inground pump series from Black + Decker (1.5hp, 2hp and 3hp) all have the ability to rotate the keypad / control pad in a 360 degree orientation simply by removing two Phillips screws that are holding the control pad in place. Do take note of the placement of the gasket underside of the keypad as it might displace when you remove it. If the gasket displaces, you have to be sure it is reset properly in position. It might be helpful to use a silicone based lubricant as this will help the gasket to be more effective, have a longer service life and also the silicone helps it to stay in place in the grove in the top of the pump. Be sure to turn off the breaker supplying power to your pump before attempting to rotate your keypad.
