From https://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/spa-foam.html - Using essential oils in a hot tub is not really a good idea. These oils can build up over time which can definitely cause water chemistry issues. Oily substances like lotions, sunscreens, makeup, essential oils and body oils can build up in the water which creates unwanted foaming and clogs up the paper hot tub filters. Often, products like enzymes and oil absorbing sponges are used to help remove excess oils from the water to help prevent these issues. A few drops of essential oils is not going to break anything but using them repeatedly can cause oil build up and essential oils are not intended to be used with hot tubs and hot tub chemicals.

From http://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/pools2.html - Learn why vinyl swimming pool liners can fade in one particular spot over time. Chemical damage is usually the culprit causing isolated fading. If you use an automatic or robotic vacuum, it may not be performing properly or maybe it's getting hung up in one spot and this can also cause fading or wearing of your vinyl swimming pool liner. Fading along entire sections, like along only one wall in your pool, look towards the sun (not literally) to see if that part of your pool gets more direct sunlight than any other part.
