After the wildly successful crowdfunding campaign and introduction of the Mountain Tactical Tikka Billet Magazines in 2017, Mountain Tactical is making this staple even better!
The Gen2 Billet Tikka Magazines feature a weight savings of over 30% compared to the Gen1 Billet Tikka Magazines. Additionally, the exterior geometry has been modified to improve seating and ejection compared to the Gen1 model.
I had the pleasure of spending a week of the 2018 hunting season with J & Ray Outfitters of Montrose, CO.
Please note that I paid full price for this hunt and was not given any concessions for this review. This is my direct and honest review of my experience with J & Ray Outfitters, Larry Franks, and his team of family members that made this hunt an experience of a lifetime.
This was my first guided hunt and I went into it with trepidation. There is so much public hunting land in Montana that I was reluctant to pay to go hunting. It was worth every penny! I learned more about elk, their habitat, and their behaviors in one week than the last 16 years.
Larry Franks and his skilled team provided excellent accommodations, food, company, and most importantly ELK.
I want to especially thank my guide Brandon Wojcik. He worked tirelessly to put me on elk and ultimately pack out my quarry. Brandon is a Marine, a husband, and one of the best men I have had the pleasure of sharing company with.
Thank you, Larry, Brandon, Kendall, Wyatt and Clay, for an enjoyable hunt. See you November 2019!!!

This is our first look at the new Tikka T3X. Beretta was kind enough to ship us one early to play with and to make sure our aftermarket components would fit.
Sorry about the machine noise in the background. I was cutting rails when the rifle came in and didn't want to shut everything down for the video.
There are definitely improvements with the new rifle and we are excited to get it out and shoot it!
Notable changes:
Stock
1. The stock has the same basic geometry as the original T3 stock but is much quieter. Tikka filled the hollow areas with a light weight dampening material to cut down on the hollow noise.
2. The grip area is much more tactile and should eliminate slipping in in-climate weather
3. The strong hand grip is modular and will accept the more vertical pistol grip Tikka plans on offering. At this point we do not know how to acquire the different grip
4. The forend grip is supposed to be modular as well. Again, we do not have access to the wider forend yet, but will add an update video when we do.
5. The recoil pad is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the T3. Limbsaver might lose some business on this one!
Action
1. The ejection port is slightly larger. This will aid in single loading and will make ejection more reliable. The change is subtle, so we'll see if there is any real world improvement here.
2. The top of the action no longer has the grooves milled into it. This is great since the grooves would typically cause a burr in the optic mount threads and could ruin screws if the shooter was not careful.
Bolt Shroud
1. It is steel! No more plastic that will crack at some point.
2. There is a spring inside the shroud to keep it from rattling.
Recoil Lug
1. It's steel! Much more durable than the cheap aluminum lug in the T3. There is a witness mark from the factory test firing which concerns me. The steel they used may only be a mild steel. While it is an improvement, it may not be strong enough for long term use. We'll keep you guys updated as we test it out.

This review has taken much longer than I anticipated. My sincere apologies for the unacceptable delays.
The bottom line is I love this stock! Thomas and his crew at German Gun Stock have designed an exceptional product that conveys their passion for precision shooting and dedication to providing an excellent customer experience.
As you can see from the groups in this video, the German Gun Stock has taken a 3/8 MOA rifle and turned it into a less than .15 MOA rifle. To say I am please would be an understatement!
There will be another video series about how we are going to resurrect the damaged rifle and get it back into this stock. Once she’s back in one piece, I’ll finish shooting Part 2 and show off the versatility of this rifle system.
Buy with confidence! You won’t be disappointed!

With so many stock companies sprouting up in an attempt to capitalize on the growing firearms market, it is refreshing to see a product that carries itself with pride and dignity instead of price point.
Jason discusses his initial impressions of this new stock out of Germany. In this review, he'll discuss the functionality and construction that makes this stock stand out in a niche typically full of boring replications.
