Almost four hours after Peoria Police surrounded a home in the 1500 block of NE Glendale, the situation is over. Peoria Police spokesperson, Amy Dotson, said police got a tip that a wanted man was in the house. Dolmokio Eckwood Jr. was wanted for allegedly pistol whipping a woman over the weekend. Police considered him armed and dangerous. Eckwood also had several other warrants out. As police surrounded the area, they used their Special Response Team to try and negotiate with Eckwood to come out of the house. A code red was also issued to alert nearby residents and businesses to stay away. When Eckwood was on the phone with negotiators, police said he threatened to take his life. Around 3:20 p.m., police heard something over the phone. "While negotiators were on the phone with Eckwood they did hear what sounded like a gunfire to them, as well as officers on scene reported hearing a gun fire outside the residence," said spokesperson Amy Dotson. Dotson said police went to render aid to Eckwood right away, entering the home with a robot to ensure officer safety. He was found in the house and declared deceased on scene. The coroner told us he appeared to die from a self-inflected gunshot wound.
