Sometimes help around a farm is just added work later. Any post needs 1/3 set in the ground if you want it to stand. Hinge posts for gates, it doesn’t hurt to go a little deeper. This hinge post is not set deep enough so I’m adding an H structure to support it. Had the person “helping” dug it deep enough to start, I wouldn’t need to do this. (concrete will rot a post, tamping til anaerobic, it should stand at least 100 years.)
