Metallica - Master Of Puppets (1986, Elektra/Music of Nations)
Metallica at their most savage! Possibly? I mean, is it...what do you say? FYI The response "Fuckin' A Right" is the only way to communicate in the affirmative regarding this question ("bum queen" for "no"). Without further ado, let's find out!!!!!

Damn! So while teens were listening to Nirvana in 1992, they could have been listening to this... Heavy, rapid rhythms, gargantuan guitar riffs, b'dass bass, and violent vocals (albeit NON SCREECHING).OK
I officially denounce the smell of my teen spirit....I smell deth....MEGA...dethl

And here it is, the one you'd have to have been born on the moon or in the past 5 years to have not heard the title track or "Girls Got Rhythm" (Maybe 10-30 year old (depending on whether or not; your parents were progressive - ly - stupid commies...).
Division is the theme. This was the 2nd biggest AC/DC album (no small thing; going platinum & gold globally) Although "Back in Black" the band's no.1. AND 2nd biggest selling album OF ALL TIME...like...in ALL music ever (putting AC/DC woefully close to being a pop-band ? JUST KIDDING...although bands "getting back together" has been another ongoing theme...or in Iron Maidens case they've been together longer than their talents existed...and IMO should have bowed out gracefully). dividing factor which is a running theme in Rock & METAL bands...Especially between 78-82 (you may have picked up on a similar theme with Rainbow, & Sabbath?
Bon Scott's death in 1980 was a crusher no doubt, but "Back in Black" still did impossibly well, just as Sabbath-Doomer fans thought Ozzy's exile was B
Sabbath's death...and were wrong for 30 years...(until Ozzy rejoined...then it died for real ?).
So lesson is, drugs, nailing hot chicks, members leaving, falling out, hating each other & dying of O.D's or alcohol far too young is A ROCKSTAR THING. And sometimes the fans will divide staying pointlessly bitter over a new member/replacement; others continue to celebrate the band until...or unless...they become terrible.
And then there's the ones who follow one band forever regardless of a marked drop in talent (Like fans who claim Maiden's current tosh is "SUPER DUPER FOR SER-REAL THE BESTEST THING EVER"). ONLY the music matters don't inherit the traits.

My fave of the 4 main Nirvana L.Ps, Scentless Apprentice, Very Ape, Milk It, Heart Shaped Box, Rape Me. Kurt at his best, his darkest and most obscure lyrics...and sadly nearing his tragic Earth shattering decision. There are clues as to his state of mind throughout this album, for those perceptive, analytical, or just familiar enough eith Kurt's enigmatic twisted lyrics.

My favourite of all Rainbow's L.P.s.
It's hard to pick favourite songs as they're all GREAT
But some more than others stay imprinted on the memory, (or they did mine):
"Lady of the Lake" the most mystical Dio song, with the most mystical lyrics (by Dio-at-his-most-mystical), suitably eery vocals & infectious A.F, with very "smoke-on-the-water" feel guitars from Ritchie.
Prevalent throughout the album, along with Cozy Powell's unmistakable rhythms, are some very Eastern oriented minor key guitar riffs & solos.
Nowhere is this vibe more pronounced in MAJOR standout track, "The Gates of Babylon". Some of the darkest lyrics to that point.
1 of the things misunderstood about Ronnie, he wasn't a satanist, he never glorified it. He explored dark topics, gave out warnings such as the price of screwing with witchcraft (just as "Sign of The Southern Cross" was a preview of how Armageddon minus the Rapture would seriously suck balls! LOL).
All in all...

These first few VH albums featuring Dave Lee Roth on vocals, are the only true Van Halen L.P's to me. Every time I go back and re-listen I realise how great they are and find things I didn't notice before. a
