Final Fantasy IV (3D Remake) [Linux] {Part A3} - Proto-Babil Defeated
I'm back! I decided now was a good time to focus on getting the last achievements for Final Fantasy IV. That meant defeating Proto-Babil. First, let me give a huge shout out to the guide here:
I deviated quite a bit from the suggestions here but that was because I was following another guide that put me at a bit of a disadvantage. Either way, with some really good ideas from this guide, I was able to finally pull off the greatest victory of FFIV. Also, the newest Proton on Steam, 7.0-6, works perfectly with this game now, so you don't need to use a really old version anymore.
This system is WAY easier than Circe. Had it not been for dumb luck, I would have beat this mission on the first try. Maybe had I brought a better wingman...
This game seems to have mixed reviews, but I'm a big fan of the first Final Fantasy IV, so I can't help but want to see how this one unfolds. Anyway, here are the relevant system specifications that I'm using currently:
OS: Linux Mint 21.1 x86_64
Kernel: 5.15.0-69-generic
CPU: Intel i7-3770K (8) @ 3.900GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Memory: 16GB
Proton: 7.0-6
This level went WAY more smoothly than the last couple of levels. There are quite a few ghouls here, but no nasty skeleton conjurers or guardians, so it really isn't that bad. Having better gear and a slightly higher level probably helps some too.
I ended up heading over to the Steel Mill to get the last piece of equipment. While there, I solved enough riddles to trigger this next rescue attempt. Edward's riddle was easy, but it took me a few times to get through his death trap.
Very little difference between this run on these missions and my first take on them. Granted, I avoided all of the fighters at the starbase this time around, so that sped things up a bit. I left the credits in this video because why not? Rear Admiral Blair can do whatever he wants now thank you very much. :P
This took a bit longer than I would have liked, but the second hostage has been freed from the Riddler. I'm actually at 81/440 riddles solved now after checking out Ace Chemicals on the way over to the hostage. I went all over the place to get these riddles and without any informant help at least as far as this video is concerned.
Straight forward mission that didn't pose much of a challenge. I did have to record it twice due to a recording snafu. I also had one of the Dralthi in the opening wave try and make my life interesting by crashing into me, but I was still able to drop the bomb without any major hiccups.
