Today, step back and enjoy these moments with nature. Today shows a couple of bucks stocking up on food so they have energy for the rut. There's also a doe with her fawns. It is so much fun being able to photograph all these deer.

Lots of chlorine here!
What's my trail name? OSAT pronounced “Oh S-Ahhh-t” (One Step At a Time) and that is how I’ll get to Maine. You may see me use OSAT JLO sometimes because my nickname at work was JLO.

Milwaukee hosts the Mexican Festival once a year. This is the year to go. The costumes are so colorful and handmade. To get there, we take the high speed ferry across Lake Michigan. It only takes 2.5 hours to cross. Today there were 5-6 foot swells. It’s hard to walk on the ship.

On my hike today I watched two button bucks and a doe feeding and then later a Tom Turkey didn’t want to let me pass by.
Enjoy!

If you hike in the woods where ticks, mosquitoes, chiggers and other nasty critters lurk, it’s a good idea to get your clothing treated with Permethrin by a company called Insect Shield.
They treat military clothing and also sell hiking and outdoor clothing.
“But I can treat it myself with Permethrin. “
Yes you can but it won’t last through 70 laundering’s and it will have an odor.
For $79.95 USD (2021), they will send you a large envelope with a prepaid FedEx label on it. You fill it up and FedEx picks it up at your home. They’ll treat it and send it back to you via FedEx. That’s a bargain. And there’s no odor!
If you decide to treat your clothing on your own, it’s kind of messy, your clothing has an odor and it might last a month if you’re lucky. Then there’s the cost of buying permethrin and you can’t carry the leftover with you. It’s too heavy.
With all the ticks on the Appalachian Trail, I’m trusting my health to Insect Shield.

This ride on the Himiway Zebra E-Bike was supposed to be me finding a back way to a friend's house via back streets. It was an epic fail. I did find a tree that was carved out at a Catholic Church and it is Jesus and an Angel. It's worth looking at. I ended up riding way North to another area I had not ridden to yet. Parts of the video are speeded up to save time. Also, in the beginning, I forgot to hook up my microphone so all the talking is a little muffled but you can really hear the difference once I see the problem.

We’ve all been there. You dream about owning something and then you save a long time to buy it. Meanwhile you research it and watch tons of videos about it to be sure.
Finally you saved enough and then order it. The box arrives but you know that you can’t open it for at least a day so it acclimates to the environment but you know that soon you will be able to open the boxes, look at it, touch it and then play with it.
Stay tuned…literally!

Here I show you what to keep when you buy a Sawyer Squeeze kit, what to buy and bring with you to save your bacon (think gaskets) and how to backflush the water filter. Important! Flush with clean filtered water only. Do not backflush with unfiltered water. I also show you an important tip on how to keep your filter from freezing...a Foo Pah on the trail. Enjoy!
